    Hi all,

    I have been catching up on some of the details posted here from late last week up to this morning. I have pushed old and new requests with Vanilla to see if we can get to the bottom of the issues we are all facing here everyday.

    I also want to thank everyone for the level of detail in the points you have raised, this all really helps to narrow things down and get us moving in the right direction with the Vanilla request tickets from the get go. I also want to shout out to those who have post workaround and tips for some of the issues seen on site. Unlike these users I am not incredibly tech savvy. The help and tips posted here are super helpful.

    All sorts of weirdness on that thread now.

    Posts 1-31 on page 1, 32-39 on page 2, and it claims to have a page 3 but it's blank

    Did the sitewide default flip just now from 50 per page down to 30? That's going to feck up a lot of bookmarks / saved browser sessions

    Hi all,

    I'm just jumping on here with a little update on the page jumping issue. Quotes are definitely a factor in this. Another issue lay around anchor tags or "@ mentions", this was flagged by Vanilla and a fix for this is coming in the next release which is due to be launched this week.

    There are another couple of factors that are involved in page loading all of which are being looked into. I have also dropped the comment count per page. Having less comments to load per page will speed up the loading as it will contain less mentions, quotes and images per page. It is a start for now, there should be a slight improvement in loading and jumping, with the update this coming week we should see another improvement.

    This is still a work in progress and I am keeping a very close eye on these issues to regain a better user experience for everyone.

    Most likely an effort to minimise bouncing. With less posts less comments so less bouncing is my guess.

    This thread and many more are still "corrupted". It is showing 3 pages of replies but page 3 is empty and page 2 only has approx. 8 replies. I am sure there are numerous other threads with similar issues, so I was just wondering what will happen these, can they be automatically restored or fixed with latest update or will new threads need to be created / migrated?

    The issue with the flag button not rendering correctly has been reported.

    The flag button drop down list is a new moderation feature, it is supposed to look like that. Still a work in progress for the moderation team.

    Not really sure I believe that as iirc (and I could easily be wrong) thats how the flag feature worked when we first downgraded to Vanilla. So looks to me far more like a regression to some old code.

    Also took 9 attempts to quote your post and each time I clicked on the quote box I was dumped back at the first post on the page.

    It is genuinely so crap I have to question my sanity bothering.

    Wake me up when it's all over.

    It appears that if a poster wants to report a post for any other reason than the three bulleted it is not now possible. Additional comments alone and a report will not submit .

    Surely there are more than 3 reasons that posts may be reported ?

    What's going on ?

    And this bug has been ongoing for a long long time now ..

    ..in the middle of typing now the cursor goes back to make riddles out of the first word and last word in a sentence.

    No there is 7 options at present. Checked on mobile and its not possible to flag something even in desktop mode!

    another odd thing: "button id=button-29" . this is currently on page 168 post #5037. first post on the page #5012 has 4 , #5013 has 5, so on

    and all previous pages have also "=button-4" through to "=button-33"
    Wonder whats the purpose of it, i mean could be counting/marking the post being reported - why not actual post number then

    I have turned off a moderation feature on the backend. Can we confirm that everything is back to "normal"? Flag button is rendering correctly. When selected do we just see report?



Leave a Comment
