Top tube frame damage- Is it a write off?

Zero chance I would ride that. That's severe damage - the shape of the cross-section matters in terms of strength/rigidity, and the cross-section is completely deformed. Alu also doesn't have a fatigue limit (unlike steel) so I reckon it would be very hard to repair that.

Sorry, I just burst out laughing when I saw the pic 😂.

So yeah, that's a hard no from me as well.

that's quite some damage - what happened to it?

you might be able to get a cheap frame on adverts and swap the parts across.

The top tube is under compression (the ends want to meet each other) so that could fold if you hit a pothole or at any time, really. Don't bother trying to get it repaired. Don't ride it - in fact saw it in half so nobody else ever rides it.

Cheers all. The bike was abandoned at Heuston station. A relative of mine works for Irish rail their and was about to dump it out.

I'd be nervous of death or worse, a pinched scrotum.
