oh god I’m not offended at all, sorry if it came across as though I was!
I suppose like anything this saga has grown legs a bit. I’d love to know where the idea the family doesn’t spend any money came from tbh.
I am not surprised Burke didn’t bother to move money around etc- they don’t actually believe they’ve done anything wrong.

yeah 1200 quid in a month so they’ll reach their target in approx 6-7 years. 🤣

He’s a prolific donator - nearly sure I saw him donate on the Molly Martens murder appeal

Standing outside the school on public ground isn't illegal normally. Not unless there's a court order telling you to fcuk off away out of there.

Burke is doing more than standing outside. He trespasses every now and again. But he ain't diddling minors.

No matter how much of a dick he is, he's not a sex offender so you can't use sex offender legislation against him.

would be curious how this has affected school attendance and enrollment actually. I have to imagine at least some kids have been transferred to another school or parents have chosen another school on the basis of a strange ex teacher stands at the gate occasionally entering staff meetings, classrooms and telling the principal he’s “reporting for work”.

It’s honestly slightly deranged. It’s funny though the way he’s handled this is a bit like:

Do go-fund-me appeals here have to be registered with the charity regulator?

I seen where he posted a video showing his card not being able to withdraw his money from the atm and explaining how he saved €40000. I think it said over an eight year period. Works out at about €5000 a year, so around €100 a week per year. He also stated his salary had been stopped, paid fortnightly he was expecting €1500 to be paid in as €750 per week after tax. So realistically perhaps not an over frugal amount for a religious single young man.

He continued on with a rant about the courts, officials, the AG, minister McEntee etc. If you're on Facebook search Enoch Burke, look at his posts. Funny one is, he had a post up earlier with a blank screen imposed, stating that a fact check had found its claims fake. Virtually the same post then a few hours later for full viewing. Hilarious stuff.

other family members can drive. Someone else drove Enoch to school etc when Sean was in prison.

Apparently he approached him to make a 2nd donation but Christopher said "No".

    "There can be only one!"

Fools and their money are easily parted. The funny thing is, the Burkes would probably refuse the funds from a gofundme. They've never reached out to the public for donations. If they are being at least partially funded from an outside source, no evidence of it has been found.

Though now EBs funds have been cut of, that might change.

If I ever come across them protesting I’ll throw a few coppers at their feet and see how they react

The first interim injunction was made by Justice Stack on 30th August 2022, which he ignored, and that's what landed him in jail on 5th September, the first time.

That order became an interlocutory order (in place until disciplinary hearings had been heard) made by Justice Barrett on 7th September 2022.

The injunction was made by permanent by Justice Owens on 17th July 2023.

Do we know who started the gofundme?

I know, I saw that. It was only initials that was provided. If I was a genuine fool interested in donating I would be very wary of that. Who is to say that's not fake. What if that's some scammer who wants to only use the Burkes name and crap to try and scam people of money. It's so wrong. There should at least a real person and name behind that.

Thank you for the time line. I remember when all that was being first raised. I wasn't interested in the news or story until a few months into that and then I took an interest in it. By the middle of 2023 I remember, zoning out from it and I refused to comment and read on anything about Enoch for a long time because I thought it was only giving attention to it. I thought they were only doing that for attention and I refused to pay any attention to any of it for a long time. Until recently. That is because I can't believe how long it's going on for and they are real sickeners too.

pretty sure unless the target is met it won’t get paid out anyway. Maybe that’s just Kickstarter but I know some of these platforms are target or bust type jobs.

Rest assured also, GFM don’t just hand out the cash to any random bank. They will verify the funds are being donated to the relevant source.

At least it’s a bit more successful than the previous Enoch GoFundMe. That aimed to assist with his alleged €200,000 in legal costs. The 9 contributions raised the princely sum of €300

In contrast, a campaign called “Enough Enoch” organised by independent Dublin councillor Alan Edge to match fines handed out to Enoch Burke with the proceeds to aid LGBTQ+ charities received 428 donations and raised €11,360.

I'd be doubtful that they'd refuse the gofundme.

Amni was more than happy to accept and keep the payoff from Arthur Cox, despite continuing in bringing them to court. Their principles don't preclude taking euros, which is handy for them.

GoGundMe allows money to be withdrawn before the target is achieved, and also does not impose deadlines, so there isn’t an issue if the campaign falls short of the target. The money can still be withdrawn and used for the assigned purpose. This is different to other platforms.

fair enough but I’m fairly sure they definitely do verify the validity of fundraisers and donations are sent to the relevant parties.

Not as such, but it would raise some interesting questions about tax liability for anyone who handles the funds, including the organiser and and the ultimate recipients.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,882 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Presumably it would have to be banked [as in an account] somewhere in Ireland with a named link to the entity/person the funds have been raised solely to support making it possible [if sufficient interest were taken by an appointed receiver into recovering from the said persons bank accounts monies due to the state in payment of court levied fines] into the new bank account the charity funds are put into for lawful proper accounting and safety.

The receiver has only been appointed and will have just started the process of checking accounts linked to EB, including ones recently opened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,252 ✭✭✭Raichų

Surely in any regard the GFM (if even legit) is paid out to Enoch or he has any access to it the receiver will have his share. Considering the fundraiser is in his name I suspect the receiver appointed will be the first one in contact with any monies heading his way.

You can’t just have lads getting assets frozen and seized by a court order setting up GFM’s to keep in the money- it’s not going to happen realistically. The Court has taken a fairly unprecedented move here and I don’t see them allowing it to be so easily unraveled.

In any case he owes about €80k so if he was somehow miraculously able to raise the full target either way he’s back to where he was if it’s seized to pay the fines. €40k back in the bank one way or another and indeed some on top. On the flip side, it all doesn’t stop with the total to date paid up- the fines continue day after day and have doubled to €1.4k. I’d love to see this GFM hit its target in total futility because the receiver just ends up with the balance cos Enoch has racked up another fortune in fines.

There’s one thing for sure he doesn’t have enough friends on earth to make €80k once, let alone numerous times. He will break one way or another. Tuesday will likely be his breaking point when he can’t squirm out of losing his entire bank account twice over.

What has a trans charity got to do with the thread? Is there not a mod warning on discussing anything remotely related to the T word?

The funds lockdown is starting to hurt them.... Money talks and always has done.

Ami was whinging in America about them taking his salary away and now Enoch making videos about his card not working at the ATM.

I can't believe he left 40k in the account.
