Did a structural survey and one of the point was this. Should I be worried ??

There is no visible capped Radon vent pipe at ground level. It may be covered over by something.

To activate the vent, it requires a pipe up to eaves level with an extraction fan in it as radon is

heavier than air. This is not a legal requirement at present. In all the houses I have surveyed I

have never seen anyone actually activate the capped radon vent pipe.

    Radon is carcinogenic.

If you have ground supported concrete floors and you're concerned you can do a radon test to establish levels within the property. If built reasonably recently there will be a radon membrane anyway, there should also be sumps and pipework to a capped vent. This can be piped and extracted at high level should high levels of radon be found under test.

If you have suspended timber (or concrete) floors it's not an issue.

no, it only came into building regulations around 1998. I assume it’s an older house.

I’m buying a 60s house and just ordered a test kit today. Stuck it in the house if readings are good , so. Nothing. If readings aren’t great. Then I’ll add a vent.

It’s not the end of the world

look up the house here https://gis.epa.ie/EPAMaps/Radon?&lid=EPA:RadonRiskMapofIreland&_gl=117ebh80_gaMTAwNzcxODUyLjE3MjA4OTQ2MjU._ga_TPK2CK9KEX*MTc0MjUwMTAxMy4yLjAuMTc0MjUwMTAxMy4wLjAuMA..
