I seen the drop, but I didn't notice anything unusual. He dropped it twice and both times it stayed against the tee on the ground.

If you can see it again look at his fingers. It’s like he’s not letting it just fall from his fingers. You can be sure because of who it is nothing would happen

The wind has finally arrived, it was promised yesterday but never materialized. It's starting to have an affect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,212 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

McIlroy isn't doing a whole lot today, he's -1 for his round through 8. But he's put his drive into the water on 9. It wasn't a good shot, but it just caught the water. Nobody is really lighting up the leaderboard with the windy conditions.

McIlroy ended up making par on that hole, it was a par 5, so he stays at -10. I'm fairly sure he bogeyed it yesterday. In hindsight he should have gone with 3 wood off the tee instead of the driver.

His playing partner Spaun made birdie, to move into the outright lead at -12.

Rory off the tee is worse than on Thursday. He used iron off the tee on 10 and it's gone left into heavy vegetation. He's going to need some luck not to take a dropped shot again.

It wasn't as bad as I thought, and the commentators. It was in a bunker.

Cauley in the clubhouse on -11, in second place. He could be the leader by the end of the day. There's a lot of players struggling out there.

Rory has teed off on 12 and missed the fairway yet again. That makes it just 2 out of 10 fairways hit today.

Back to back bogeys for Rory. He is not playing well. And 14 is up next, the hardest hole on the course. The commentators have said there hasn't been a single birdie or better on it today. They said the last time a hole at this event didn't give up a single birdie or better was hole 18 back in 2005. The last time hole 14 has gone without a birdie was 1983. Just 2 players left and the former leaders have fallen away. No birdies it is so.

McIlroy birdied the first and has eagled the second. He’s started quickly.

Missed the start, I knew they were bringing the start forward today to try and avoid some expected bad weather later, but didn't know it was by 4 hours.

They said the bad weather will arrive around 3pm Florida time.

I didn't see Rory on the first 2 or 3 holes, but he hasn't been good on the few holes I have seen. He's in trouble off 6 and he was using a 3 iron I think. Leaked out well right and will have to play off pine needles and contend with trees for his second shot.

He's hit 1 of 5 fairways today. That was a terrific sliced second shot by Rory on 6, all things considered.

I know he got skanked on that lie after hitting a fairway but that's a bad break. Hopefully he starts finding the short grass again. He scores better on the back 9 historically. It'll be tough to stick with him.

He's the only big name in the running, maybe it'll work in his favour.

Bhatia is due a big breakthrough at some point but like Spaun has to be feeling the pressure.

Rory has dropped a shot on 7. He ended up in a bunker on his second shot, despite finding a rare fairway with his tee shot. It was an impossible 3rd shot, he's the only player today to have found that bunker.

I think Spaun is starting to feel the pressure and will continue to do so. Bhatia is the player to watch out for in my opinion, even though he's facing potentially dropping a shot soon as well. It was his round yesterday that did the damage, but he recovered well towards the end and again today.

Ya, Bhatia makes his first bogey today. So Rory and Bhatia on -10. Spaun leads on -11.

McIlroy has made birdie on 8, with a putt on from around 14 feet on the par 3. Gets him back in a share of the lead with Spaun.

Rory changed his tactics with his tee shot on 9 today, going with an iron. Yesterday he went with driver and put it into the water. He still managed to get par, but I think he made bogey the previous day.

I think 3 wood was the club to go for, but maybe he doesn't trust himself with either the driver or 3 wood.

Spaun has bogeyed the 8th so Rory is leader on his own by 1. No, scratch that, Bhatia makes birdie on 9, so he joins Rory at the top. I definitely think he will be the threat to Rory winning today.

That was an opportunity missed by Rory on the par 5 9. He only made par. He hasn't done well on this hole this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,212 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Rory has made birdie on the par 5 11th to go one shot clear of Spaun in second, and two clear of Bhatia, Hoge and Walker.

This is turning out to be a great event for Walker regardless. Got a late invite after Jason Day pulled out injured. He's a local lad and ranked 284th. This will greatly help his ranking.

Play suspended due to heavy rain and threat of lightning. No idea how long it'll last but the commentators think it could be an hour and a half or two hours before play resumes.

Called in. Hopefully they get back out later.

There will be an update in half an hour, so no play resuming before 7PM at the very earliest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,212 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Next update is coming at 8PM and hopefully play can resume half an hour from then. The officials are optimistic that they can still finish the tournament today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,212 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

    Updates...updates…updates…

Finally, the one that matters, play will resume at 9:15PM.

They should have 2 hours and 15 minutes of daylight and the commentators think they'll get it finished today as long as there's no more delays.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,051 ✭✭✭Dr Turk Turkelton

American clocks have changed since last Sunday so that will mean play will resume at 5.15 pm Florida time rather than 4.15.

Not looking good to finish today I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,212 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

After a 4 hour delay play is finally back under way. Let's see if it changes momentum or catches some players cold with the change in conditions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,041 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

That 4 hour break worked well for the football.

RRory with a great start back, lovely birdie. Spaun bogey then so 3 shot lead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,212 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Perfect start for Rory, makes a birdie on 12. Spaun bogies on 11 and suddenly McIlroy has a 3 shot lead.
