Has anyone any recent experience of this?? I have been told that if you do not have a vat number yourself, that you buy the Tractor in U.K. without vat, and you then pay VAT and duty in Ireland on it, so you can then vrt it… is this correct? And what are the rates?

You will be required to import the tractor ie pay duty and vat before you will be able to vrt it. You will require a customs clearance agent to do this, I have had loads of good reviews of https://customsagent.ie Mellissa Carroll.
