Are these Burke loons being bankrolled by religious groups in the States?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

it’s a massive public gathering of elected officials etc?

It may have been asked before but how are they funding this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 357 ✭✭Kilteragh

Oh well if John Waters said it then it must be true.

They might be getting outside funding (my personal opinion is No).
However, I think they are likely a self-sufficient and indeed moderately well-off family. They have at various times all held down decent well-paying jobs. And crucially they don't spend money other than on these jaunts.

Without knowing your lifestyle at all, I'd hazard a guess you take plenty of yearly holidays or at least weekend breaks, spend money on good clothes, drink moderate amounts of alcohol, have a mortgage/rent, eat out semi-regularly, spend a decent wedge on good TVs/stereos etc. That would make you a normal Irish person in todays society.

Think how much money you'd have in the bank if you kept the above expenditure to a bare minimum and lived a reasonably frugal life. That's the Burkes.

This is begging to be rendered as a Renaissance painting!

You ok? You’re very vexed for 8 o clock of a Friday morning.
You can prattle on with the “if they were Muslim” angle all you want, but they aren’t, they’re bigots, and a national embarrassment.

There has always been speculation about that, but no evidence of it has ever come to light.

In fact, the ACCE and even the Westbro Baptist Church(!), have said they do no support the Burkes behaviour.

Our ancestors were living in mud huts and dead by the age of 50. The world has moved on but there is freedom to practice whatever religion you like. Forcing religious views on others is no longer a viable option though. And breaking the law or court orders is not an option either.

So what John Waters or anyone else thinks is irrelevant. You can still practice religion all day every day if you want. That hasn't changed.

You were asked previously to support your claim that Trump was a Democrat. And then we could move onto your ludicrous claim that the Democratic Party is left wing!

You can speak for yourself about your ancestors. My ancestors weren't bigots and bullies.

Watch the videos and you'll get Mammy's shoe.

to be fair the criticism from the WBC was based entirely on their approach to the law. The WBC have always been careful to stay on the right side of the law. it helps that pretty much the whole family are lawyers. The presence of lawyers in the Burke family doesn't seem to have helped them though.

Are asking why Homeland Security are at an event in America?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,882 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

Our ancestors were sustained for many more generations by beliefs in Thor and Odin, and before that in paganism, whose feast days were appropriated by Christianity.

Do you look back fondly on those days too, or just on your own particular sky fairy?

John Waters wrote lots of things, much of them fanatically racist, anti Semitic and Nazi esque. Is he your current thought leader?

Isn't he the one who was complaining that no practicing barrister would not take him on?

they all have a similar look about them don’t they? Pale pasty skin that’s rarely seen the sun , black glasses and malnourished looking. A horrible family

The Burkes are evangelical protestants. What they believe in has nothing in common with the version of Christianity most Irish people in the South would have grown up with.

I'm not sure who's more embrassing to our nation, this family or Conor McGregor.

    Those photos are beyond ludicrous.

I'm not sure why I think this, but it all looked far too "staged" for my liking.

I, as a so called "normal" person wouldn't have got within an ass's roar of that building not to mind get into it without being screened thoroughly at the door.

Someone on the inside might have been up for a laugh, or a bit of drama, or……. something.

The Head of State of the Republic of Ireland was there, and security just let them in?? Hmmm.

I honestly thought trump would bring them up to MM. That musk would big them up more on Twitter. Champion them more given his opinions. That vance would come sniveling in with a dig and then trump go on a roll. Thought they would have been guests of honour on fox.

I think they have REALLY hurt themselves with their red-hat brigade in the US: They failed spectacularly in that they didn't get a chance to meet/see anyone important. They didn't get a chance to hijack MM's meeting with trump and vance. They didn't get an interview with musk. They made their appearance at that presentation, were thrown out and people there laughed at them (Well, at the comments after). When thrown out, they weren't swarmed by American press. They were not photogenic when being thrown out. They weren't even arrested!

I'm sure they went there expecting to win the heart of musk and trump and vance. Failing that, a nice big exposè on Twitter by musk followed by a full on sit-down interview, prime time fox. Failing THAT, storming that Irish American presentation followed by being arrested and looking heroic when dragged into cop car. World's media all over them. Instead they looked like lunatics (I'm not saying they are or aren't. Just saying that's what they looked like). The only media interested were Irish media who know the exact details. So of no use to them. The highlight of the episode was a joke by one of the presenters at the fundraiser and the fact that someone lost a shoe.

MAGA LOVE a good photo opportunity or photogenic martyr surrounded by LOTS of press. They failed in getting that. I'm assuming they will now probably be banned from the US. Further crippling any chance at careers. I GENUINELY expected them to do a WHOLE LOT better there.

Don't get me wrong, I glad they failed so spectacularly but I am actually surprised.

So I see that the Burke clan made a holy show of themselves in Washington DC.

I think they potentially were dressed to fit in, Ammi was wearing a red dress (very out of the ordinary for her) and Martina and the brother had on blazers. They were dressed smartly and had no banners, they may have just acted like they were with the crowd. Not that they should have gotten in when a head of state of anywhere is attending but security probably not as high as it would be if their own president had been in attendance.

Fair play to the Burke's. They got exactly what they wanted with this trip. They're back in the headlines.

The "ignoring them" approach since Christmas, has been really working. Let's move on

    They’re not it’s, they’d etc

They are and have different genders end of.

Imagine being this deluded. The sheer absurdity of declaring your refusal to refer to someone as "they", when you've just done it three fcuking words ago is actually bananas, as in 'I should seek mental help' bananas.

And then to use it again fcuking two words later…..!!!!?!!?!

Cognitive dissonance, folks. If you are contradicting your entire point twice in the space of 6 words, chances are you're a simpleton who doesn't know WTF they're talking about.

I love the bit in one of the videos where mammy dropped her shoe mid rant and looked down like a dog after making a fart 😁.

A good measure of Waters' detachment from reality is that, in 2025, 94% of the primary schools in this country are controlled by a Christian church, and the Christian faith is taught as factually true on a daily basis in these schools.

For all the good it's doing either of those churches… but they still have free rein to do what they want with the nation's children

Note that the churches do not fund these schools, taxpayers do

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.
