this is the guy cut off military intelligence and arms delivery as a bargaining chip to use against Ukraine, directly costing civilian lives … what a pathetic pig of a man, he should be cut off from the world, from all people and then alone, in the shadows, he can roll around in his own excrement, all day and all night.

The world will be a better place when we are free of the toxic pollution factory that is trump.

Obviously that meeting is big news here but so think we are being a bit dramatic about it. It will pass and be forgotten in 24 hours such is the hyper Trump news cycle.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

There is plenty of scope for reductions. The Dow Jones is still higher than it was for the first 9 months of 2024.

In fairness we don’t want the leader of our country to be treated like a gobsh1te- he might be a gobsh1te sometimes, but he’s our gobsh1te

Sanders lost the popular vote in the Democratic primaries, never mind the superdelegates. It's worth remembering that it wasn't Obama's 'turn' in 2008. It was supposed to be Hillary Clinton's. But Obama was popular enough and canny enough to overcome the obstacles against him. It's something Sanders couldn't quite manage.

I'll say this for the current Whitehouse press sec - she pronounced 'Taoiseach, Michael Martin' far better than our neighbours across the way usually do. Good omen for a smooth-sailing meeting tomorrow? We'll see.

I don't think MM will be treated like a gobshite and I am sure MM will play safe. He might be subject to indifference perhaps or a little slagging but it will be over before you know it and the world will keep spinning.

Red red as far as the eye over US stock markets can see

    Somehow it’s even worse today

But hey I’m sure trump supporters would say this carnage is normal

Some will tell you this is all part of his master plan though, the real genius needs to be seen yet…

Trump to love humiliating leaders so on an outside chance I wouldn't be surprised if Trump has the Burke family waiting for Martin and Trump will hand the floor to them making a big pitch about how their freedom of speech is quashed in Ireland but not in the Oval office and they were now free to berate Martin.

With Trump never underestimate what he would do.

Actually on that the Israeli Zionists got an unexpected shock when Trump sent a delegation to talk with Hamas without telling them first. Trump's loyalty is only to Trump.

He will. trump will harp on about taxes and how Ireland has lost it's good Catholic ways by going woke and banning a teacher for is beliefs (I know. Don't worry. I know it's wrong). Will call him an antisemite. He will definitely make a show if him. We will know that it's typical trump lies and half-truths (at best). But fox will lap it up.

So don't be surprised, folks. He doesn't need the Irish American vote. The GQP does not WANT the Irish American vote going forward. As a matter of fact, they will make people feel ashamed of their "woke" European family tree. REAL 'muricans are from MURICA! Anybody who claims European roots are woke antisemites who hate Murica

That’s what I’m hoping for - I’ve no issues with MM whatsoever - he’ll remain composed and diplomatic at the press session- I’m sure of that .

Do you reckon Trump will roll out the Burkes in front of MM? I wouldn’t put it past him.

If the Burkes turn up, they should have their passports taken away so they can't come back.

With a bit of bad luck for some other unfortunate person/state, a hiccup will require Trumps total attention elsewhere and MM will be told matters of national importance [like the vote in Greenland] meant Trump and Vance had to be elsewhere, with another Trump flunky filling in for him accepting the gift and expressing Trump's regrets.

I reckon he'll bring up that we've given Rosie O'Donnell asylum.

Feels terrible for the worlds richest man though and pledges to buy one of his cars or his “baby” as he put it.

It seems, if what Rubio and his fellow US diplomat are saying is true, and the TV news is correct, that Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire [30 days] on the basis of no air or ground war and a resumption of the previous information flow between the US and Ukraine. The US has sent/is sending the proposals to Russia and are waiting for its response to the Riyadh Peace deal proposals. The ball seems to be in Moscow's court now.

It'll be up to Trump to ensure Moscow agrees with the deal and does not try some trick to get Ukraine accused of a provocation and sunder Trump's chance of being a peacemaker worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

don’t believe trump can force Putin to sign up, don’t see what leverage he has

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,931 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Ontario has suspended the tariff on electricity pending a meeting on Thursday.

    Trump buckles AGAIN!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 244 ✭✭Qaanaaq

This seems to be just a temporary ceasefire but then you still need to negotiate who gets the occupied land etc. Still a long way off.

Collapsing? It went from $1.45 to $1.44 v US dollar in that chart, no?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,032 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

US has lost all standing it had (or feigned to have had) on the world stage.

Removing aid and intelligence from Ukraine for long enough to have Ukranian citizens and soldiers killed by Russia. Now, restoring that aid and intelligence to Ukraine as they also push Ukraine in to accepting a 30 day ceasefire. A ceasefire that experts say will best serve Putin in allowing Russia to reinforce and prepare.

I hope the EU Alliance proves to be capable of moving towards real and sustained support for Ukraine, them being at the behest of a nutcase in the White House is a very dark place for them.

US General Ben Hodges - Commander US Army Europe 2014-2018

Here’s what he said on Channel 4 News this evening:

“The mask is off- there’s no longer any pretence that the administration has sided with Russia.”

“I never in my life imagined a scenario where the US would in any way be cooperating or on the side of Russia against another European country”

“We’re throwing away 80 years of hard work with like minded countries who value democracy and human rights”

This man was a lieutenant in West Germany in 1981- he knows his onions- well said sir.
