today is another example of RTE has no interest in Liveline, Duffy choosing a topic that he is personally interested in.

I'd say the Soviets would have more interest in something they could play aloud in their Lada like some Motörhead.

It's a great song by The Scorpions, Wind of Change.

I mentioned it here when Joe had his topic on whistling, as it had a whistling solo.

Does Joe realize it's rude to talk over people, or just not care

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,960 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

It's alright when Joe wants to talk about himself.

As far as I can tell, Joe heard "Eve of destruction" on the radio at the weekend and is now on his second day getting a programmed out of it - is that correct?

    Caller driven show ,eh?

We may be an island surrounded by water but try getting a bit of decent fresh fish in the midlands any day of the week.

I can't wait to get the free pass. I'll be on the train 2 or 3 days a week to get me bit of fresh fish and when I say fresh I mean caught yesterday or the day before or even the day before that. I love me fish with the slime on it me.

    Appologies for the mini rant.

Phil Coulter's song "The Button Pusher" might need a rewrite as the word knob isn't really used the same today 🤣

I am the man, the well-fed man, in charge of the terrible knob
The most pleasing thing about it, it's almost a permanent job
When the atom war is over, and the world is split in three
A consolation I got, well maybe it's not, there'll be nobody left but me

I sit at my desk in Washington in charge of this great machine
More vicious than Adolf Hitler, more deadly than strichnine
And in the evening after a tiring day just to give myself a laugh
I hit the button a playful belt and I listen for the blast

Tell the young people to go to Nicosia, and they can see a similar wall, Joe.

Never mind the madness of a wall built through the middle of a city, Joe

In Sligo there's a town bypass right through the centre of the town!

Onto the apocalyptic book corner now.

I wonder will Joe let Bowie's"Five Years" play until it gets to the memorable lyric:

"A cop knelt down, kissed the feet of a priest

And a queer threw up at the sight of that'

A nod to William Topaz McGonagall there I'd say.
