I think Flogas are being more clever this time around and sending the required links direct to certa and BWG employees.

Well they're going to see a lot of on direct debit customers walking.

If someone in Certa or BWG could share the link here…

Whats the best deal out there for non smart meter users at the moment?.

Flogas need to cop themselves on if they think they can thwart our attempts to get cheap gas and electricity. We'll get our hands on the links Flogas, mark my words.

Their current rates on their website won’t encourage many to stay

I thought that’s what happened last time with the affinity/Certa deals low take up by BWG staff and links were released to “Public”

Dont forget you've got a 14 day cooling off period. So if you sign into a new contract tomorrow you still have a further two weeks to find a better deal and then just cancel the first contract.

Admittedly though it is not looking good and Ive resigned myself to paying more in the coming 12 months than I have done in the last 12 months. Right now the Energia 38% off deal is pretty good as it is only marginally more expensive than the currrent Flogas one we are on. But it is a variable rate and its only a matter of time before it rises by 10% or so given SSE Airtricity have already raised their prices. If a fixed deal of 26-27c a day unit & 13-14c a night unit with standing charges of €275 a year or less came along Id hop on it because thats likely the new reality of what we're looking at anyway and chances are it could go up further from there.

😀 I played around with their offer IDS there seems to be multiple so-called platinum offer logins now 32,33,34 etc that are lockeddown by email address and tell you to contact your HR department so I'm guessing they'll use an email list from the companies going forward.

The Energia 41% off with axa is the best deal currently. I signed up today.

41% of standard rate 24hr rate (non-smart plan)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 TWIreland

Thanks I was looking at dual fuel. Do you have gas and if so with who?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭wassie

    Nope. Elec only

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭knipper

I was looking at Energia smart meter prices and there is a standard smart meter price and an interval smart meter price which is slightly cheaper.

    Does anyone know the difference?

Not sure if I'm eligible as currently on 24hr smart plan and out of contract.

    Thanks a mill

Need yo check the BWG rate I'm on till the end of the month but I don't think the AXA deal is to far away from it?

    25c elec and 7c gas.

Can someone post the energia/axa rates. I cannot get access right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭wassie

All in the link I posted above.

I presume Flogas would stick you with the early termination fee if you moved early? For some reason my end dates with them are different even though I signed up to dual fuel in the same application.

Have gone with Axa dual fuel rate with Energia.

Electricity: 13.49c Night. 25.21c Day. 26.42c Peak. (incl Vat).

    Gas: 7.66c.

    Thank you sgdfsdfsd

    For those rates

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭DavidJC

Flogas told me yesterday to contact my "BWG manager" about the new rates and that there is a 50 euro per fuel (gas/elec) fee if you switch to another provider even a day before.

Looks like I'll be hopping to Energia at the end of the month.

The poor flogas calltakers having to take all these calls from faux BWG employees. Ensures no such deal will arise again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,220 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

yes it does seem a bit strange calling them rather than just wait and see if a deal even happens between bwg and flogas and then a link may appear

    The internet isn’t for everyone

My contract ends 31/3 so I'll instruct to move on the first.

The Energia/AXA rate is pretty close to the BWG dual fuel rates I'm coming off. Standing charge is in or around the same too.

Strangly when I jumped from original BWG rate to an updated one mid way through contract I wasn't charged any switch fee bit maybe because that's because I was staying with flogas.

I have a hefty credit on my account, I assume they will just refund that when the account is closed, can I pay it into my new suppliers account does anyone know or do I just park it in a vault for next winter whne big lgwr bills come in?

I know one thing i won't miss, the **** flogas billing system!

Ye, it's been said here since last year that if you ring Flo about the deals they'll just refer you back to your 'employer', nothing has changed and people are just wasting their time calling them.

I jokingly said previously that Tuesday April 1st next might set a record for daily switches, looks like that might be the case. I wonder will Flo care about loosing so many customers?

I can't see anyone bothering to potentially create hassle for themselves in work by doing that, however if anyone wants to PM me a link I'll happily repost it here for everyone.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

You switched plans, not suppliers which usually is the trigger for an early exit fee. Most utility providers will often allow you to change plans mid-contract without penalty, as they will lock you in for a new 12 month contract.

I assume they will just refund that when the account is closed, can I pay it into my new suppliers account does anyone know or do I just park it in a vault for next winter whne big lgwr bills come in.

You have to request it. This can be done via email. They will pay it directly into you bank account. You can lodge that with your new supplier directly or a vault etc.

A word of warning, be prepared to wait or chase them. 3 months passed, several emails, and I still have not received the credit in my account.

"No, not immediately. Customer services informed me that refunds can take up to 3 months. In fact, it took just over 4 months for them to process the refund to my Flogas account. I had to make numerous phone calls and send emails to resolve the issue. The lesson I learned is that I will never be in credit again moving forward."

Refer to CRU now. The supplier has 'two months from date of final bill' to refund monies.
