If Trump is committed (for whatever reason) to helping Putin win against Ukraine, say he is at risk personally or financially if Putin falls, then expect him to be become very hostile to Europe if he sees Putin losing. Assume also that Putin or his people are working with Trump and his people, and you could imagine all sorts of attacks including false flag operations. Putin blew up an apartment building in Russia to justify attacking Chechnya. I wouldn't put it past Trump, with cooperation from Putin, carrying out some false flag atrocity to try to achieve their goals. These guys are ruthless psychopaths, and getting desperate, a bad combination.

I think we need to be able to declare a state of "hybrid war" of some kind. We certainly should be careful about allowing Russian nationals get visas. Our government leaders might need enhanced protection. In fact we might have to be careful about which Americans we allow into the EU, never mind which Russians, which is a crazy situation to be in. But that seems to be where we're going on the Trump train.

The fear was and still is nuclear war if the west threw their full force behind Ukraine. Putin is a psychopath launch nukes if he felt the end was near for him

I wonder how all the Republicans/maga cultists would react to Russian state TV begging the Kremlin to nuke American cities on a nightly basis 🤔 it's a pity they weren't showing these clips since the beginning of the invasion

Putin had his media in the west and maga bought and paid for. The media were regurgitating any assistance as escalation. Trump in Bidens time was stopping all assistance to Ukraine. It was taken private citizens themselves to fight in Ukraine when governments wouldn't send their professional fighting forces. Ireland had some citizens die trying to uphold the right of Ukraine and the innocent against Putin. The terror attacks against Europe were promised by the Kremlin. Trump took the election and continued Putin's work of terrorising Europe threatening to pull US forces out of Europe to battle Putin's forces alone. He called for all gains by Putin to be recognised and for the 100 billion given he wanted 500 billion back. Then he shut down American assistance that was already promised and shut off satellite help. Then they gave information about any logins to help the Russians identify where the Ukrainian forces were on the field. Trump now uses this terror tactic as a bargaining chip to beat with Zelenskyy.

All the little accidents in the west last year and the year before that some thought of had Kremlin involvement are forgotten. Whether agricultural accidents or ships taking bridges down, etc.

Yes, this might sound over dramatic. But I do think this is where we at now tbh

Later today, at this "peace talks" in Saudi is Ukraine’s and the free world’s darkest hour.

The world is going to irrevocably change for us all, especially here in Europe. And many when they get up this morning dont realise it

The true extent of trumps and USAs betrayal of Ukraine shall be laid bare. Russia & Putin has beaten the west, the free world and collapsed the world order we have lived under for our lifetimes

I see where you’re coming from. But don’t fall into the trap that Putin is a master strategist. He has effectively sent Russia back decades, his army a laughing stock. And now takes direction from China.

No way Russia recovers over the lifetime of Agent Orange’s term in office. Tump is going to tank the US economy. And Dems will be in the Whitehouse for 8 years after this debacle.

So, Ukraine is going to be betrayed again. But it would be incorrect to think Russia hasn’t suffered a massive own goal. The territory Russia will gain (and possibly lose in the future) is rubble, that no amount of Ruble is going to fix any time soon. The resources aren’t there. Russia cannot exploit the Ukrainian rare earth without outside help, so will pay a massive premium at minimum.

    TL/DR Russia is FUBAR

    Thanks @Avatar in the Post

"But don’t fall into the trap that Putin is a master strategist."

No im not. Because he doesnt have to be, he almost has to do nothing. Trump is handling all this for him.

Russia FUBARED .. Putin cudnt care less. As long as he isnt and his inner circle - the sylviki - in the leavy surrounds of Moscow and there plush dacha's. One could argue for decades or longer, other than Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia has always been fubared anyway

I thought that it was only Trump that was making concessions to RU on behalf of UKR. Now we have Rubio at it also - giving legs/ support to what Trump has said. It’s UTTERLY UNBELIEVABLE multiplied by 10

I would love to hear Rubio’s inner logic justifying his disgusting actions, he should know better, so should Kellogg

Orban's links with Trump are becoming very risky for him. It's starting to dawn even on hard right politicians like Marine Le Pen that Trump is an enemy of Europe - Orban could become extremely isolated, even in right wing circles.

    Elon Goebbels.

We've been at war for several years. It's just that the peripheral Western Europe doesn't or doesn't want to see it because Russia is so far away, and they never experienced the Russian soldier's boot trampling their heads. The Scandinavians and the Baltics are arming as fast as they can, activating and training reserve forces and building shelters. They know what's at stake.

Commercial satellite imagery companies have supplied imagery to the Russians since day one. In the beginning, some even refused to sell images to Ukraine. But when Ukrainians buy imagery, these companies always release the imagery to other clients, which means the Russians can always see what the Ukrainians bought.

Because Trump is a coward and a bully, he will always abuse the weaker side.

One of 10 US tankers which can supply fuel for military logistics was anchored and a cargo ship drives into it. Suspicious as ****.

If Putin is a true imperialist he will suck up all that because his legacy will be partial rebuilding the great Russia Empire

Tis starting to dawn that Americans can’t be trusted with anything and them F35s just become ultra expensive lumps of metal alloy

Them “checks and balances” nowhere to be seen while US arms industry gets the rug pulled from under it

'Money money money money money money money money'

    It's something like that

I wonder if Poland and many other Baltic states will be second guessing all the Himars they ordered.

It also explains why Israel always seek to obtain the custom versions of the hardware they purchase from the US so they can modify and I guess prevent a kill switch being activated.

All the billions that will be spent on European defence, I don't think much of it will end up in US defence pockets.

Interesting that Rubio said Ukraine won't get all of its pre-2014 land back, and it would have to be seen what Russia is willing to get up.

That is a strangely positive statement compared to Trump and Elon's recent rantings in that a) it refers only specifically to Crimea and b) actually acknowledges Russia has to make compromises as well.

Which demand will Russia compromise on? Ukraine handing over full control of all 4 territories? Ukraine having to reduce its army to an internal security force? No security guarantees or European peacekeepers?

The vice president of the USA's cousin who fought in Ukraine for three years.

Meanwhile JD has recalled how he learns of Ukraine from russian online sources and how he wouldn't visit because everything he'd see with his eyes would be false.

Nate Vance says the russian operation is different than any western thinking military or citizens or values. They see as normal to shoot their own in retreat and would think of any western people as nothing, even Vance and Trump to be used and discarded. He says offering them concessions will make their military see it as a complete victory and a prize worth going for again when they regroup again.

Kind of implicitly accepted in what everybody including Zelensky has been saying though. Question is will they be getting any of it back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,363 ✭✭✭Field east

is it not the case that Ukr will not get any, some or all of it’s land back - that RU have taken since 2014 , ?. NOW . NOW being the key word

Doesn't mean a damn thing when he's going to happily vote to support the fascist regime

Russia won’t be giving any land back and won’t be forced to either.

They might get a few token bits - towns of particular historcal importance say - as a gesture of Russian 'commitment' to the peace deal but that would be the very most
