I ran across an article describing the connections between Orban and the Heritage Foundation / Project 2025, here:

There are definitely well resourced organisations within the EU, especially Poland and Hungary, that are aligned with The Heritage Foundation, and they have been looking to destroy the EU for decades. For sure the EU may need to eject Hungary if Orban insists on working in Russia's interests instead of the EU's.

Or….these days….Ukraine! Will be interesting to find out the crew nationalities of the Solong!

Very hard to believe, with all the aids to navigation and safety, and relatively close to coast/port, that one ship ploughs into another at anchor, completely by accident!

    @aidanodr

yes, but will no doubt end up relevant here when Trump blames it on his enemies (Ukraine/EU/UK)…

Interesting twitter thread this .. about TRUMP being a possible russian agent of old. Here is the UNROLLED version:

    Starts with:

July 1987, Moscow, USSR — Trump, 41 years old, flies to Moscow at the invitation of Soviet Ambassador to the U.S., Yuri Dubinin.Upon returning from Moscow, the bankrupt Trump suddenly receives loans from 16 banks and, without negotiation.

This is the original tweet thread:

Yep the main obstacle seems to be Lagarde who invented bullshit reasons not to hand over Russian assets

But cracks are starting to appear

Sounds about right. After the US ceding ground to Russia without any concessions from Russia they now want to see what Ukraine is willing to concede, again without asking for anything off Russia.

US wants to determine in Jeddah whether Ukraine ready to make concessions to Russia - Reuters

Ukraine should argue that they have made concessions to Russia already by not targeting civilians in strikes nor raping, pillaging, kidnapping, conscripting from any Russian territory that they occupied back.

Nice words and all that, but hollow and empty.

As with the other Republican led Ukraine aid strike (which was not as serious I think?), they can't re-alive the soldiers and civilians that will die or repair damage that will be done to the UAF and ability of Ukraine to defend itself, even if Trump admin. reverses course later (unlikely anyway, I would say).

You're not wrong, though I would suggest that statement applies to pretty much everyone in Europe and North America for the last three years. The entire saga has been an utter shambles of commitment to peace and security, this war should not still be going on at this stage. We, collective, have let it.

Elon Musk called a U.S. senator from Arizona—a Navy veteran—a "traitor" for supporting Ukraine.

Musk really is a despicable POS,at least the senator gave a good reply.

"Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a core principle of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those who do."

At least some Americans are happy to show their support, irrespective of the Trump regime.

Still can’t believe Trumps plan was to leave Ukraine vulnerable to Russia bombing by switching off the intel.

Basically let Putin kill more innocent people until Ukraine have to cave in.

    What a sick twisted mind.

The USA (Trump and Musk, really) are determined to crush Ukraine, they won't listen to Ukrainian explanations. They want to give to Putin whatever he wants in exchange for him not fighting in Ukraine. If this means that Ukraine must be destroyed as a state and its population ethnically cleansed, then it is just fine and dandy for Trump.

Zelenskyy's strategy now is probably to appeal to the forces in the USA that still support Ukraine and hope that they will somehow influence Trump. Or else Ukraine can stick a middle finder and keep fighting with whatever support the EU can spare. It won't be a very bad strategy either. Russia does not have enough strength to break the Ukrainian resistance they can only crawl slowly through the heaps of their own dead.

Still there is an important difference between not doing enough for whatever reasons, and pulling the rug out from under Ukraine (for the second time now) + cosying up to the aggressor.

Unless you mean by "we, collective, let it go on", Ukraine should not have been helped militarily by US/Europeans during 2022-2024?

Seems only idea the Trump admin. has to end the war faster, is do its best to make sure Ukraine capitulates by pulling out US support.

They have little leverage to stop Russia/Putin attacking Ukraine, they also have no leverage when it comes to NK, Iranians and the Chinese etc. who might even step up support to Russia now with the signals being sent out that dinner is apparently served. Though I suppose that could suit the Trump admin. purposes too.

Anyway I just hope European countries learn a lesson from these sad events and respond correctly, finally!

This whole trump administration and musk are treating people like they were just previously treating people online. But now in real life.

It's like the troll attitude has infected their minds coupled with the reverse projection that the putin administration has been able to get away with these past few years.

Calling the good, bad. And the bad, good.

    Perverse psychological engineering.

You'll only get away with that crap for so long.

No, "we collective" should have been more involved and more aggressive from the get-go, instead of inching slowly along for 'fear of escalation.'

Trump has one very powerful lever - THE PHONE. Russia as a military and economic entity has never been weaker than now and The US is seen as the strongest nation in the world - especially from a military perspective. So he can lift up that phone and order him. To go home and if he does not ‘All Hell Will Break Loose’ and supply Ukr with. The means to win the war.
This is his Gaza strategy so why not his Ukr strategy ?

So very true. The US' name is absolute mud at this point with the way they are stabbing Ukraine in the back and attacking supposed allies with tariffs. There may be a few Republicans pushing back but the majority of that party is all in on stabbing Ukraine in the back and supporting a fascist Russian dictatorship. There are many great people in the US who know what is happening is so very wrong to put it mildly but its also clear that at this point the US can no longer be trusted and relied on. The US under the authoritarian Republicans is a disgrace to what the US used to stand for when it came to democracy and freedoms.

Yeah that ultimate "lever" is/was always there I suppose, but I think just threatening it won't work and it would need to be followed through.

No one has wanted to do that (not previous US admin., or any European countries).

They've always shied off getting more directly involved in the war, or supplying amounts/types of weapons that they believed might damage Russia "too much" (escalation).

Putin seems to have cashed in all his chips in Ukraine (putting aside crazy ideas like use of WMD) so words and bluffs won't cut it to get him to stop.

edit: Of course Trump will be much more comfortable threatening a weak militia the Israelis have been bombing and killing non stop for a year with "hell", vs Russia and Putin - a country and a leader he really seems to be in awe (or fear) of, and has a deep respect and affection for.

And the scary part is they are not the worst far right propaganda network in the US. Newsmax and OAN are arguably worse never mind the right wing hate radio that dominates their radio markets.

Krasnov said Putrid is easier to work with on the BS peace deal then Zelensky - really?

Russia has told Australia there will be "grave consequences" if it puts "boots on the ground" in Ukraine as part of a Western peacekeeping operation proposed by the UK prime minister.

If Trump is committed (for whatever reason) to helping Putin win against Ukraine, say he is at risk personally or financially if Putin falls, then expect him to be become very hostile to Europe if he sees Putin losing. Assume also that Putin or his people are working with Trump and his people, and you could imagine all sorts of attacks including false flag operations. Putin blew up an apartment building in Russia to justify attacking Chechnya. I wouldn't put it past Trump, with cooperation from Putin, carrying out some false flag atrocity to try to achieve their goals. These guys are ruthless psychopaths, and getting desperate, a bad combination.

I think we need to be able to declare a state of "hybrid war" of some kind. We certainly should be careful about allowing Russian nationals get visas. Our government leaders might need enhanced protection. In fact we might have to be careful about which Americans we allow into the EU, never mind which Russians, which is a crazy situation to be in. But that seems to be where we're going on the Trump train.
