Also Hojlund has actually played 80 games for United and while Antony has more appearances when you look at minutes played Antony has 5435 and Hojlund has 5263 minutes. So they've played a similar number of minutes.

I think Zirkzee is starting to adapt to the league now, he looks sharper and his general play is better.

If your goal is to maximise the other talents there, maybe. It's arguable. The hope would also be rasmus would improve so there you have a more natural striker too.

He was poor yesterday- Kept falling on the ground a few times looking for free's when he needed to be stronger. More than a few times he just didn't try and close Arsenal down when he could- I think I counted three times when he went into that "Rashford trot" where he's pretending he's working but really doing nothing. His movement is better and he made a neat backheel at one cross but overall I thought he was poor.

Just on the falling down bit, it happened a few times but the defenders had at least one arm around his shoulder on each occasion and yet it was no free. Sure, you could say it's a soft one but they get given 99% of the time for every other team. Maguire gets pinged for that a lot.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Do we get Alternative Comms for the draw-wins? Think we had one for the Liverpool one. Could do with a bit of Comms.

I think he needed to be stronger in these circumstances and stand his ground. No one wants to see such soft frees given

I was a big defender of Rasmus at the start but my patience is wearing very thin now to be honest. I have absolutely no hope he will score whenever I watch him. He's not causing defenders any problems and looks like an amateur footballer this season. Probably going to be another huge money failure unfortunately and end up being loaned out in the summer and sold at a loss.

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

I would like to see him given another go next season, but purely as a rotational player to see how he does in a team that is (hopefully) playing with confidence and cohesion in attack.

We HAVE to sign a first choice striker, as we can't rely on Rasmus to turn it around. But I wouldn't be upset to see him be the backup along with Chido and Zirkzee.

But, the reality is the club also do have to look at selling him in the summer. See what offers they can generate and see if it makes sense to sell him, financially. We need to sign a first choice, and if we sell Rasmus we arguably need a second choice (unless you just go with Chido and Zirkzee in that case, would depend massively on Chido, imo)

You mean exactly what Hojlund does? 3 tackles in the league this season for the "hard working" Dane.

"Lazy" Zirkzee with only 13 in fewer minutes still not great but would indicate that he is getting some success out of pressing.

They get given all the time though, that's my point. The whole "needs to be stronger" element is pretty much gone from the game completely now.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Plus, winning a free to stop the game and allow the team to reset and push up was probably the actual goal

Gary Neville interview with Jim Ratcliffe.

Interview with the BBC as well:

He’s backing Amorim for the long term, which is good. "I think Ruben is an outstanding young manager. I really do. He's an excellent manager and I think he will be there for a long time.“

Just read the BBC article, he always gives good sensible interviews to my mind anyway.

89 million due this summer in transfer fees for players already at the Club.

Whoever took on the task of running United was putting themselves in the crosshairs of every fan, rival fan, journalist and pundit going.

United has been an absolute dumpster fire for years, you're stuck making unpopular choices in order to keep the thing going and it might never work out regardless of what you do.

Agreed. Hard to find fault with anything he said (bearing mind mind he can’t criticise the Glazers). I know it’s a PR piece but it has left me feeling better about him than before hand and more optimistic for the future. We just need to be really patient.

    Really refreshing interviews.

Imagine a utd owner answering the hard questions, who would of thunk it

I'd like berrada abd wilcox to be more firward facing with the football side.

Part of the reason to have a head coach rather than a manager is that other people are supposed to take on some of the traditional responsibities

neville have interview sjr on youtube for those interested

beaten to it just saw someone posted it earlier

Think all round was a very good interview. You can tell by his face and body language he agrees with so much what Nevile said but he can't say it himself.

Only negative I can take from it is it looks like we not getting rid of the glazers anytime soon.

Jesus watching that interview would make you hate the glazers even more, if it were possible.

It is incredible the amount of damage the glazers and that banker Woodward did to the club.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

I spent a lot of time during it thinking how good the first interview would be if the Glazers were gone. He’s clearly furious with the mess they have made.

Stadium announcement of some description tomorrow. Would seem to be we'll see what the design of the new stadium would be if that is the accepted route v

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,935 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

I thought it interesting how he did point at Woodward, without naming him. But also how he said debt is the road to ruin, several times.

Lot of lean years ahead I think myself going by that interview. Paying transfer fees for players already signed to the club who we've then loaned out to other clubs while paying a portion of their wages as well! You couldn't make it up really

Hopefully there's a college business management course in years to come that's focused on Man Utd, the mismanagement of the club deserves something like this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭jayo44

The opposite.... The glazers take over of the club is used as an example of an excellent business plan or something to that effect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭FrankN1

    Really enjoyed that interview

Two things jumped out to me:-

    1. The Dan Ashworth debacle wasn't mentioned. (Did I miss it?)
    2. Saying RA only has a mid table level squad as measured by annual wages available to him because high earners such as Antony and Rashford are out on loan is a cop out as they were available to him before he decided to approve their loans.
