Saw a few videos of some MAGAs trying to act like there was nothing wrong with Elon's salute by saying that their heart goes out to him, but doing the same salute slowly and with their palm upwards instead. Because they know. They know Elon's salute looks like a Nazi salute and they didn't want to copy it exactly.

And then there were a few who did it just like Elon did, and their employers found out (or were sent the video) and fired them.

    • The Monitors at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) were hacked to display an AI-generated video of Trump sucking on Elon Musk’s toes, with the caption "LONG LIVE THE REAL KING."

Check your own platform of choice to see the footage!? Telegraph reporting on it as well!

Was wondering why someone put up a warning not to click on 'HUD' trending link!

On one platform the above clip has been removed {the original source} on the grounds of it been “non-consensual explicit material.”

Edit:- 27th after been challenged by poster, now restored today!

My work doesn’t require me to address cheering crowds (sadly perhaps). I already posted a series of pictures of other people doing the same though.

You mean the stills taken out of context Vs the actual video of Musk et al…?

Post a video of yourself doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,572 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

You were caught out with those stills pretty quickly… The only ones I've seen repeating the gesture are the GOP who are well aware of how it's being read.

I live in Germany. I'd be arrested pretty fast if I made that gesture. And they wouldn't accept that I was saying my "Heart goes out to you".

I think they’re ALL taken out of context. That’s my point. The idea that Musk, crazed narcissist that he is, is a Nazi, is silly, and devalues the word Nazi. It’s just another version of Godwin.

I think the Antidefamation League, whose mission is to fight Nazism and anti semitism, are more apt to judge than a bunch of Irish posters getting their knickers in a twist about things of which they have no experience. And the ADL have said they don’t see Musk’s gesture as being Nazi.

Moreover Musk has done enough actual stuff to criticise - children with multiple women some of whom appear to have been under some degree of duress for example, without needing to bring in Nazism, which is a whole other level of evil.

It’s funny really: I find myself in the position of someone saying that physical violence is different from calling someone a bad name then being accused of supporting physical violence.

But it’s the posters doing that who minimise the reality of what the Nazis did. Not me.

LOL I wasn’t “caught out” because my point was that they were ALL taken out of context.

That a bunch of virtue signallers decided to misunderstand that really isn’t my problem. You can take a horse to water and all that.

Mod - warned for uncivil posting

It is Musk who trivialises what the Nazis did, by using a Nazi salute to troll people who still care about such things.

He is a racist Nazi dog whistler who by such conduct mainstreams neo Nazis.

Also, Musk has been criticised on this thread for all his other reprehensible conduct too.

Did Musk do a Nazi salute?

Did Biden win the 2020 election?

    Did Russia invade Ukraine?

All the same test to check if people give up on pushing back on people pulling the wool over their eyes.

Post your video. I mean he did it twice, this was no image of a hand in a position for a moment. It was, is, and will continue to be a Nazi salute (just like all the other GOP members are doing)

If someone is in a room of 1,000 people and one person acts like a Nazi, and people do nothing to stop them… Yeah they're in a room with 1,000 nazis (themself included)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,572 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

You absolutely were, the context was clear for everyone with the Musk clip. A freeze frame of a person is pretty different to a guy making a gesture repeatedly followed by the GOP repeating the gesture at CPAC means they're well aware of how it's being viewed. So you could stay they're trolling or something but what right thinking is fine with the conclusion they're making a Nazi salute?

On top of that, there's additional context. Elon's Canadian grandparents were Nazi Sympathisers, they moved to South Africa because they were fans of apartheid. Most people would want to make a point of distancing themselves from Nazis. Instead Musk is happily associating with modern day Nazis so with that added context, it's fair to conclude he knew what gesture he was making.

Now you can go off on some rant about virtue signaling.🤣

Musk on Rogan saying he is no naz1, as he is not doing genocide, but he likes their fashion style and manners? Usually naz1 make the excuses that under Hitler everything was bad as he built the Autobahn.

    It's normalisation.

Putting Musk's insecurities aside for a moment, we also saw Bannon do the Nazi salute. This will gradually increase. They are attempting to minimize the most extreme views to make theirs seem "normal".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,535 ✭✭✭techdiver

So the bar for being a Nazi is committing genocide. Not slam dunk of a denial. Now I'm not watching it as I can't stand to watch Rogan soft ball him and nod and agree in adulation on everything Musk says.

Musk worries about the solvency of Social Security

    https://fortune.com/2025/03/03/elon-musk-joe-rogan-podcast-doge-social-security-biggest-ponzi-scheme-of-all-time/

their was a woman on rte last year that said that if they just taxed musk properly without all the loopholes they would be 1/20 of the way to plugging the social securities funding gap.

    1 person.

instead they'll raise the age and all the other crap they do.

Musk needs to stop worrying about these things. He should be focusing on landing in Mars in 2024.

The sooner Musk and his ilk feck off to Mars the better.
