I'm surprised no one has coined the phrase "Trump Dump" to describe last week offload of the USD.

it’s become so like ‘Animal Farm’ it’s incredible. No stretch of the imagination needed to see the direct parallels between Trump and MAGA and Napoleon and the other pigs in George Orwell’s book.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I can’t help but think ICE are simply “following orders” Nazi style - the German tattoo artist has been detained for over a month now- no doubt as an “example” to show Europe who’s boss- even though she had a flight booked she was detained for attempting to work on a non working visa - now I’ve seen a number of those customs shows and if someone is found to be potentially working when about to enter the country they get turned away and sent back on the next available flight - job done - this is political I’m sure of it

Free speech for me, not for thee.

I mean, the White House banned the Associated Press from their briefing room because the AP was still using 'Gulf of Mexico', and that's the name used around the rest of the English-speaking world. It's not even a particularly controversial view like, I don't know, believing that the 2020 US elections were rigged, despite no credible supporting evidence, and something the current Trump administration officially believes.

The Democrats really need to fight fire with fire and ram home these dumb catch phrases in the same was the maga crowd would. American society is no better than this level of discourse, so if you can't beat em join em.

Noticeable absence of posters declaring that he's doing great by citing him signing some executive orders etc. When it comes to diplomacy or any actual work, he's absolutely terrible at it and he's doing worse than ever. Each week is just amounting to permanent reputational and economic damage.

But it’s all Bidens fault, according to that Fox News woman at the weekend who started her interview with Trump with “we all know you were left with an economy in a mess”. She used to be a good journalist so she’s no fool but clearly believes she has to toe the FOX line so has to lie.

Why do White House reporters not back up their fellow reporters when Trump won’t answer a question by just going “who are you with? “ and the others just laugh

Congress voted to setup up medicare medicaid for veterans and people on low incomes .there is social security for people who worked and paid taxes so that they don't have to work til they die , eg retire and get a basic pension as in all western country's . This pension is paid for by tax's the personal who worked til their 66 paid . This is a welfare system setup by Congress. By the way most people at some time use their parents as unpaid child care .

America is the richest country in the world .they spend billions on nuclear weapons and defense spending .

We have free speech as long as it's in favor of conservatives or trump .

Protest or speak out against Israeli genocide and you may lose your job or be deported .

Tesla pays 1.5 per cent tax. It's now be arranged that musk,s starlink is getting government contracts instead of other telecom company's .who provide fast broadband to most of the country at a fair price .

Starlink is designed to be used in remote areas it's not ideal for apartment blocks in the city .

Trump has put in place judges that him the power of a king . All of a sudden tech companies are scrapping dei and content moderation cos they are afraid of getting targeted.

The only hope is that a few honest judges will push back against trump and doges illegal power grab and stop the federal government being destroyed meanwhile highly trained qualified experts are being sacked by young people whose main qualification is using social media . The barbarians are at the gates .we are truly in the darkest timeline .

America is shutting down foreign aid while disease tb and chaos is spreading in the third world.

It makes a mockery of the important work serious reporters do - they deserve whatever vitriol they receive on social media - I won’t shed a tear - they’re a significant part of the problem

Or as Trump seems to be calling it, a “transition”.

Just hasn’t said a transition to what though.

I thought that was one of their Banned Words

SCOTUS has a heavy workload and the decisions it reaches on cases brought to it for adjudication may indicate which way civil life will be run at state level in the future. Today it declined to hear a claim by a sacked Fire Chief that he was fired because of his Christian faith.

There is another case coming before it: It is being asked to review an existing Colorado state law which prohibits medical practitioners there from using conversion therapy on young children. Conversion therapy uses a variety of shock practices to force gay people to ignore their sexual preferences and become hetero-normative. If it decides to make a ruling on that law being invalid and strikes it down, then it would cause a massive change in how [in Colorado for a start] civil life for children and maybe teenagers and adults could change for the worse. If it decides not to make a ruling and lets the Colorado law stand, it would not be welcomed by persons in positions of power who have hard-line heterosexual positions where homosexuals and their existing freedoms are concerned.

We'll have to wait and see how some very senior people of strong religious belief in the Trump administration react to todays non-hearing of the Fire Chief case and then to whatever decision SCOTUS makes about the Colorado law case in the near future.

Edit; from later report: The Supreme Court will take up a Christian therapist’s challenge to a Colorado law that bans conversion therapy aimed at young people questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The case, brought by therapist Kaley Chiles who is represented by the conservative religious group Alliance Defending Freedom, claims the state law violates the First Amendment by restricting her ability to communicate with clients who seek her services.

I don't know what more you expect me to "concede". It's looking nailed on that a major US recession is incoming and this has been engineered either by design or incompetence by the Trump administration.

What is not clear is if Europe is seeing inflows of money due to it being seen as a safe haven. US treasuries are still low yield while German bunds are rising. This is interesting since the mar a Lago accords that some commentators are discussing is an effective US default.

    Trump in a crowded theatre.

    "Fire! Fire!"

Fox News - Biden causes panic at Theatre. Dozens injured.

    Not at all

"trans", "transexual" or "trangender" are on the List of Banned Words- but no "transition" .

I blame the Deep State (or Suzy Dent)

Fox news has been pretty sycophantic over trump's starting weeks despite all the mess.

At least UK had a lettuce they could time truss out by, the US is stuck in this stupidity for the next 2 years at least.

I've thought the same kind of thing, so I agree, but knowing the Democrats it would be some think-tanked, focus-grouped soundbytes dreamed up by wet-behind-ears poli-sci graduates (lot of hyphenation going on, here), fed to a party insider like Hillary Clinton. Remember her 'Trumped-up trickle-down economics!' quote that she probably rehearsed 50 times.

It would probably have an awful bang of artificiality and superficiality off of it, and lack that visceral appeal if it comes from within the party proper.

So, if it were to happen, it would have to come from an outsider who runs on the party ticket, and who the party probably don't even want, but have to go along with because this person electrifies the base. Pretty much a mirror image of Trump's rise, but without the dark amorality.

I heard a commentator mention recently that Musk isn't really that interested in money per se. Obviously, he is interested in money, but not so much for the luxurious lifestyle it affords but more for the power it grants.

Since Musk appears to be entrenching himself within the Trump administration, he may be willing to trade some wealth on paper for his seat next to the throne, so declining Tesla stock might not quite be the gotcha moment we think it is.

I doubt it, but the mood in the WH these days is such that I wouldn't be surprised if Trump and co. try to blame it on Ukraine, Canada or the EU. Anbody but Ruzzia.

Elon Musk says Ukrainian IP addresses are linked to the cyber attack that took X offline today. How convenient…
