Heaven did brilliantly straight from his introduction…..getting his head on dangerous corners and blocking several shots…..hope he develops into a first team regular in a few years time.

Collyer lively as always for his time on the pitch.A positive team performance against a quality opponent.

It's a pity Onana consistently puts his defence under pressure, whether it's with wayward foot passes, missed punch clearances or pushing shots into the path of incoming forwards rather than away to the side.

Garnacho gets plenty of the ball. We had 5 big chances though in the 2nd half and he didn't create or wasn't on the end of any of them.

id love to think that game showed promise for us - we should more tactical nous, more commitment, and more threat from the areas needed. I thought Mazraoui was good and i have been very critical of him at RWB.

    But its Arsenal.

We get up for the Arsenal games, the Liverpool games etc.

We're as likely to look a disorganized mess again next match out, despite the La Real game inarguably being a much bigger game than today.

If we can take something out of this game, I would hope that it is we have enough players that could be good squad players for us moving forward - because that has been a worry for me. We could sign a bunch of players to imrpove the first 11 but if the rest of the squad can't learn to play effectively we'll be screwed by the first suspension or injury.

Onana did very well with a punched clearance through a crowd from a dangerous ball into the box then goes and pushes a shot right back out into his goalmouth. He's always going to be a liability

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

Fu(king desperately trying to make a big deal about the distance to the wall for the Bruno goal

Rasmus didn’t start and displayed his shortcomings when he did come on.

Lad is like a container ship off the mark which was so evident in the play which Rice blocked his shot in.

I’d love to see him succeed but these are glaring shortcomings as a striker. Likewise his ‘leap’ off the ground is non existent.

Those are major deficiencies as a Premier League striker and highlight the lack goals from the lad.

TO be fair, i'm sure they made equaly as big a deal out of Olise's free kick goal for Palace last season against us.

The Bruno chance our best chance come from garnacho crossing the ball into Mazraoui after beating a man on the wing, it's not the assist pass but he is massively influential in that..saying if he isn't making the last pass or shot is completely reductive and shows a lot of bias,.also ignoring he wins the free from the goal we scored from in the first half is you trying to paint a narrative that isn't there

He had a good great game probably our best player definitely top two.

Also maybe you should think about why Garnacho always get so much ball, he is quick, he makes good runs, the team has confident passing to him and it won't just bounce off him, he is always looking for the ball when others don't

Our honest manager singling out garnacho, he had a complete game, he was amazing

Bruno,Mazrouoi, Garnacho, De Ligt and Heaven were very good today.

The rest weren't bad, even Onana, except Dalot and Hoijlund. They let us down again here and there .

Its refreshing to see manager call it how he sees it.

I hope he is the man long term, short term he is what club needed.

To be fair, Rice said the same after the match that he thought our lads were back very far when they had free. Seems to be the refs fault

I think Collyer has to start on Thursday. He offered a good bit today when he came on and has energy about him.

Onana was very poor...kicking balls out of play and aimless ones up the field. Got very lucky with the save he palmed out at the end. Hopefully he will be replaced in the summer. Heaven excellent when he came on. Eriksen and Casemiro just phoning it in

For a team fighting for the league the amount of time wasting Arsenal do on dead balls is a laugh...even Rice celebrating the equaliser in front of the Stretford End...what a dope...you need the win...get on with it as quick as you can...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Caustic

Ya it's impossible not to like him, hopefully it all works out under him.

Another thing from the game actually when you think how bad we were from corners against arsenal in one of Amorims first games we dealt with then quite comfortably today, I think we are seeing lots of incremental improvements under the manage that kinda go unnoticed, onana did make that mistake from the save near the end for sure but in the last two games he has been claiming more crosses and been more commanding in his box he might not be the long term answer but its good to see players improving aspects of their game under the manager at the least

The fact he was fasting all day and then played that well is actually insane. He must've been delirious.

What did people think of Hojlund in extra time? Passed the ball to Garnacho and then made zero effort to get in the box for the chance that fell to Bruno. It was very strange for a striker who should be dying for a goal at this stage. If he had played 90 minutes I would understand but he should've been fresh as a daisy. Is he afraid of getting a decent chance and then messing it up?

I disagree, he was decent today but to say everything we did attacking wise involved him just doesn't stack up for me. He had some good moments but he also had some of his usual poor decision making.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Unfortunately that's what happens to a striker when his teammates have just ignored him again and again.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Seeing one wing back set up another wing back for what could of been an excellent goal another small sign that players are realizing what is expected. Pity Maz couldn't finish it, would have been a nice one.

We have had to watch a lot of crap to just get to the stage where we are seeing some small signs of improvement... but it seems we are getting there slowly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

As long as we are getting there imo, slow and steady wins the race....our race is feckin a long one though 😅

Rooney on MotD2 for anyone interested in what he'll have to say about us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 819 ✭✭✭ngunners

That's a bit of a cop out and a shocking attitude for a professional to have. 'My colleagues haven't done their job so I'm not going to do mine.' I hope for Hojlund's sake he doesn't feel that way.

Would you also think it was OK if Onana decided to let in a few goals because he felt the defence wasn't protecting him enough? etc.

Think that's a fairly harsh summary of what happened. Hojlund was out the pitch working to win the ball back. He made a run but looked up to see Mazraoui and Collyer in the box. Holding back as opposed to bombing into the box wasn't the worst decision imo.

There's plenty to criticism Hojlund about imo, but his work rate isn't one of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,970 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

I wouldn't say that that evaluation of Hoijlund is correct…the lad does try.

The problem is that he is too slow in thought and movement. He was at least one metre ahead of Rice with the ball at his left foot yet Rice still blocked his shot. He looks like he is playing in porridge.

A decent striker does his own work and doesn't expect gilt edged chances to be served up all the time.

Rasmus is totally lacking in that department, how many corners have Utd won over the last month or so?

How many has Rasmus influenced or got a strike on target from…….none that I can remember…..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,441 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

This is the concerning thing, how much can you put his slowness of thought and movement down to confidence and how much is just inability?

I put a lot down to hesitiation - as I don't think this slowness was evident at Atalana or when he first joined.
