    on Fridays Liveline a caller was describing to the host how he had been assaulted and was called by the “f word”, the host expressed his horror at the use of this word, and I posted that the “f word” was fairy, this has resulted in a warning and banning by squonk on the basis of homophobic language. this I feel is a very petty reaction,

    I am appealing the warning and banning. in messages with squonk I was told I could appeal if I wish.

    Hello @mountain I'll look into this for you. Can you elaborate on the basis of your appeal, please? And did you try to see the mod's perspective in your exchange of PMs? My understanding is that 'fairy' is seen as a slur. I get that you may not have posted it this way. Are there some crossed wires here?

    as above, the host was his expressing his horror at the use of the “f word” which was clearly fa****, my comment was made in a light hearted response to the hosts outrage, and the fact that assaults take place daily in Dublin, however this assault was worthy of national radio, as the caller is a very minor celebrity on RTE. Not for minute did I mean any offence.

    I messaged squonk to express my surprise, and to ask had he been listening, which he had. I was told I could appeal. While of course the ban has now lapsed, I felt my comment made in a light hearted way was taken much too seriously

    Could be an honest mistake. A while ago, I misunderstood a reported post and reversed a warning afterwards. It's not as if you were saying gays = bunch of fairies. I'd be inclined to keep this simple, revisit it with the mod as a first port of call.
