Ah Enya....if there is a god, then I imagine Storms in Africa will be playing whenever you meet him or her!

if RTE aired RTE Gold on shuffle mode, with some new tracks included this bullet proof slot would still get listeners.

But then her producers wouldn’t get all the credit for everything she plays and says on her show.

They already do that on Bank Holidays (and days where the 'talent' forget to show up) and its great.

Why can't they just do it everyday from 12-1pm. That's my lunch break and I either want to listen to concise no nonsense news OR classic tunes, with no woman cooing, ohhing and ahhing about how every artist and song is the bestest everrr...

You could just run every show without a host. Play wall to wall music and ads??
Leave mics open and let politicians wander in to have a discussion etc. or folk promoting their book or themselves?

There is a difference between a radio station and your record player or Spotify. Me, I turn on and tune in because I know it's a radio station I am tuning into, if I want something else, and I occasionally do, I'll choose Spotify, You TUbe or a CD from the collection. Sometimes I wonder does everyone grasp this simple concept.

Spot on, its the unctuous breathy delivery for that hour of the day and the 'everybody is great' stuff that makes me bang down the off button after the Angelus if I'm driving about in the slab.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,519 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

A nice warm and calming leather interior for the 'slab' maybe?

Saves the old buttons from excessive wear and tear. Roll the old tuning knob you'll never know what else is out ther if you don't.

    Cracking start to the show!

Anyone who thinks the show would be better automated is deluded. It would be just like one of those ‘Jeremy Clarkson’s Dad Driving Anthems’ type albums they used to sell in garages.

You wouldn’t get half as eclectic a mix. This afternoon slot is a desert for radio but this show is an oasis in that desert.

Nerdy fact: The Papenfuss brothers from Relish are now members of ‘The Late Late Show’ house band.

you have a strange bunch on here who for some reason listen in to criticize her (or claim to not listen, but criticize anyway, which is even sadder) . but, what ever get them through their day I suppose.

I noticed this from day 1 of the current house band line-up, in fairness fans of early 00s Irish music would have noticed them on the LLS too..

I don't watch the LLS. But I have been listening to a lot of Relish recently and was wondering what happened to them. I always loved their sound. But it was at odds to the singer songwriter thing that was popular at the time.

Glad to hear they are still playing and preforming, even if it is as the houseband on the LLS.

I can't find it due to the search function being terrible but when you have someone basically posting 'what would she know, she's just a girl' you can kind of guess what's motivating some of the posters, or that one at least. I like the show, I mightn't like some of the music (that's out of personal taste rather than a criticism) but it's a generally good mix.

The main difference between the two is the interminable stream of Public Information advertisements, (many in an alien language) that pollute RTE's output like a loud fart at a performance of Mozart's Great Mass in C minor. 🤬

And ending with ‘A Glass Of Champagne’ by Sailor!

Shakin’ Roxy Music, but I’ll take it. 🙂
