Have you tried Force stopping the app or restarting the Firestick? I've had problems like that before and those 2 steps resolve, usually Force Stop is enough.

Unfortunately at the moment, there's no way to get the RTE player working on the Firestick. Check out the pages towards the end of the "Firestick general discussion thread".

The RTE website has a FAQ page regarding the app and devices it runs on etc etc.

I got it working recently, I put it on the RTE thread here, by going into the Amazon Silk browser/Internet, searched for RTE.IE, when I opened the RTEplayer page it worked fine, I then saved the page by bookmarking it. I saved the Internet app to the homepage, now each time I open it the RTEplayer opens and works, news, player, live TV, radio. Click bottom right for full screen

Has anyone tried [url=https://www.reddit.com/r/revancedapp/comments/1f5nzya/guide_how_to_patch_splitapksbundles_with_revanced/[/This craic] to see will it just merge the 3 apk's instead of downloading 3 files . Then using AFT link shortener for the downloader app to make it easier for everyone? Ill try it shortly once I get my phone back from my mother whose using it to cast RTE player tot he telly.

I managed to get the player (version 3.128.1) installed on the firestick and all seems ok. I cant give a step by step detail of how i did it because i was really only experimenting at the time as i have the player already on the smart tv.

If i remember correctly the sequence was that i got the apk files from a twentyfouri.com link that i found on redditt. I was able to download these using the downloader app and although it wasnt able to install them they were saved in the Files section on Downloader. So to install these files i downloaded on to my android phone two apps from playstore. One was Easy fire tools and secondly APK Mirror (beta). then i installed APK to the firestick using the easyfiretools app.

You can find the the instructions on how to do this on youtube.

(I could have installed APK directly to the firestick but i would have had to have signed into my google account on my firestick and i didnt want to use my google password there.)

Finally i opened the APK app on the firestick and navigated to "browse files" scrolled down to "Download" and opened that and then there was a "Downloader" folder at the top of the list. Open that and the twentyfouri files were there. So click on those and then on "Install package" and the player was installed.

I tried this method last night and it was perfect.

    • On your Fire TV, hold the Home button to bring up a new menu and select Mirroring.
    • On your Android smartphone, select Settings > Connected devices > Cast > your Fire TV’s name.
    • To cast to Fire TV from a Samsung phone, swipe down and select Smart View > your Fire TV’s name.

I couldn't be arsed with all the ADB and that shite so in the end I just bought one of these bad boys for €7.50 (pack of two so anyone in Waterford wants one just pop upto me and you can have one. )

Ok so it appears Im not around long enough to post a fecking link so just go to amazon and search for these, Im sure most computer shops in town will have them either.

AuviPal 2-in-1 Micro USB to USB Adapter (OTG Cable + Power Cable) for FireStick, PlayStation Classic and More - 2 Pack

And since I cant share my link for the files either youll have to go back a few pages to find the link.

Use your PC/Phone to put the files on your USB stick. Plug usb stick into the OTG cable I linked.

Plug the cable into your Firestick with USB in it.

I used total commander to move the files from USB to Firestick downloader folder. Throw it wherever you want.

    Install SAI.

    Then open SAI

    click install apk

    then select internal file picker

navigate to and select the 3 files by ticking the box

    Click Install

Twiddle your thumbs for 10 seconds and boom, Roberts your mothers brother.

    Job Done.

After hours of trying I got the player installed on my fire tv. I downloaded an apk installer then downloaded the Android version of the player and installed using the apk installer and it's working perfectly.

Today I installed APKMirror installer, then RTÉ Player (Android TV) 3.130.0 (320dpi) APK Download by RTÉ - APKMirror. I did run into a problem where it kept bringing up cloudflare so I then went into the Firestick Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, Rte player, Open supported links and set that to open in this app.

    https://www.aftvnews.com/fire-tv-sticks-are-now-officially-available-in-ireland/

Now that fire stick is official available in Ireland this might result in RTE officially supporting the stick

    Yip, this one works:
    https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/rte/rte-player-android-tv/rte-player-android-tv-3-130-3-release/
You download the .apkm file, which is basically a zip file. If you give it a .zip extension, you can just extract it to a folder.

In here there will be 29 files. The ones you need are base.apk, split_config.en.apk and split_config.xhdpi.apk. extract these 3 files to a new folder.

    Install these using:

    adb connect <firestick-ip>

    adb install-multiple base.apk split_config.en.apk split_config.xhdpi.apk

Just before I go and buy a firestick, can someone confirm if Rte Player live still work via Silk browser?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,508 ✭✭✭batistuta9

you can watch live with the app now, not sure about on silk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 429 ✭✭clickhere

Yes, I watch it on the silk browser all the time. I just can't get the app to load properly. Hopefully they bring an up to date app soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭sheroman01

Thanks. Has that been newly added? Just download direct from app store?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,508 ✭✭✭batistuta9

yeah it's new enough. no, rte isn't available as an app on firesticks - virgin media & tg4 are though - you'll have to sideload the android tv version.

look in the firestick thread, that has instructions. but basically you need to install sai installer on fs, then upload the rte apk to fs & install it with sai. sounds more trouble than it actually is

Can anyone give me the app version number for RTE player that currently works on older 4k firesticks. Had a sideloaded version that worked, but that is now showing an "upgrade required from google playstore" message for the last few weeks.
