stacker/destacker with 9920 Twin DiSEqCTM multiswitch to send 3 feeds from quad LNB and ! from K2 LN

    I wonder if it is possible to send 3 feeds from a quad LNB (FREESAT) 1 feed from a K2 LNB (saorsat) and a terrestrial aerial down a twin co-ax cable

    I've used DiSEqC switches previously for 3 different sats/LNBs but not with the stacker/destacker, so can't advise.

    Would a multiswitch be an option, 2 LNBs + aerial in?

    Could you perhaps describe what you are trying to achieve exactly? It seems odd you'd want a terrestrial feed and a Saorsat feed, assuming your terrestrial feed is Saorview.

    I'm trying to tidy up my connections to the TV. I have a LG TV with twin tuners (satellite which is tuned to Freesat and a terrestrial). I have a Humax twin tuner+internal HD. I have a 80cm dish with a twin mount so I can receive saorsat. The reason for all this is so I can record the programs I wish to see and cut out the adverts. I watch virtually no live programs and at the moment have very poor internet so watching terrestrially available catch up is not really an option. Bizarre as it may sound, sometimes I cannot record terrestrial programs without using my saorview box due to two programs overlapping. This is just to explain why, but I do want to 'tidy up' the whole installation which at the moment adorns the room with 5 co-ax cables snaking across the room. I propose a cabinet to incorporate the satellite boxes and any other necessary hardware so that is why I would like to 'condense' the 5 co-axs into one or two. I have all the cables available in the loft so I can make any connections up there and have a pair of co-ax neatly coming down within the wall which I can use. I really just wonder if the arrangement I proposed in my original post would work? At a pinch I could do away with the saorsat as one day in the distant future I am promised broadband although I'm not sure I shall live to see it! But my tree feeds from Freesat I couln't live without! Thanks for your thoughts, Ian

    Just as an alternative, do you know if your LG TV and/or your Humax tuner support Unicable LNBFs? If you don't know, what are the model numbers of these? This might be easier approach.

    What do you use to record the Irish channels? Is it a Saorview box, or the Humax tuner via Saorsat?

    Don't know anything about Unicable LNBF . TV is LG32LK6100PLB and Humax box is HDR-1100S 2TB

    I record Irish channels on a 500Gb HDD direct from the TV , I don't currently use the saoirsat tuner but do use 3 feeds from the LNB Freesat, 2 for the Humax and the third for the sat tuner which is within the TV. Again thank you for your interest, Ian

    From what I can see, the Humax doesn't support Unicable/SCR LNBFs so that option is out. The LG is new enough that it might support it, but the online manual isn't clear either way. If you go into the setup menu, you might be able to find this out.

    Here is the diagram from the stacker/destacker manual. According to this, you can have 2x sat feeds stacked and 1x terrestrial feed diplexed onto 1 cable. From what you have described above, I'm not sure this will accomplish what you want to do. For example, if you want to record 3x Freesat channels simultaneously, you won't be able to do so (unless they happen to share the same TP). Alternatively, if you are only every likely to record 2x Freesat channels simultaneously, then the stacker is fine for your needs.

    If you are set on reducing your number of cables, I would strongly suggest looking at a Linux based receiver with FBC (full band capture) + a unicable LNBF. This will allow you to record multiple satellite/terrestrial channels simultaneously via a single cable on the one box.

    Even if it worked in theory, I'd worry that the attenuation introduced by the stacker/destacker would be too much for Saorsat which is a bit weak to begin with.

    A Unicable/SCR LNB is a 'smart' LNB that allows you to use multiple (up to 24 or 32) Unicable-compatible tuners/receivers over a single cable e.g.

    If you combine one of these with an FBC receiver, you typically can have 4 (or 8 depending on the box) 'virtual tuners' per physical tuner. If the box has 1 physical FBC tuner, you can record 4/8x sat channels simultaneously. If the box has 2 physical FBC tuners, you can record 8/16x sat channels simultaneously. All from the one cable.

    If you diplex your terrestrial signal, then both satellite and Saorview can be sent down the 1 cable. If you add a dual DVB-T tuner to the box, then you can record all of the Saorview channels simultaneously.

    As an example, this is EPG from a Vu+ Solo4k and an old Play TV twin DVB-T tuner. 3x different Saorview channels and 3x different Sat channels being recorded, all over 1 cable.
