Pity its nearly entirely monoculture, non native trees done entirely for providing timber for construction and paper making…

interesting how the icon for 'natural' suggests woodland, but we do not have anywhere near 17% native woodland cover in ireland - it's less than a tenth of that.

Nearly entirely monoculture is not accurate. Progress is being made.

Conifer species are the dominant species present, representing 69.4% of the stocked forest area while broad leaved species accounted for 30.6% of the area. The share of broad leaf species in the national forest estate has increased by 5.9% between 2006 and 2022. The age-profile of the forest estate is increasing with 39.6% of the stocked forest estate is less than 20 years of age and 30.4% between the ages of 21 and 30 years. (2022).

There are more cattle in Ireland than humans. And nearly as many sheep. But a lot of people will go through next week never seeing a sheep or a cow.

2nd largest with a population of less than England. Not the UK, England.

Canada is geographically huge, but hardly anyone lives there.

A history enthusiast noticed the stone marking the boundary between the two countries had moved 2.29m

A Belgian farmer, apparently annoyed by the stone in his tractor's path, had moved it inside French territory. Instead of causing international uproar, the incident has been met with smiles on both sides of the border. "He made Belgium bigger and France smaller, it's not a good idea."

    😉

It's handy enough when it is just two countries. But could get complicated with three. Belgium France Luxembourg tripoint.

Again, in some countries kids have to attend school on Saturdays, hence the long summer holidays. (e.g., 200 school days in total).

All compulsory schools, both primary and secondary.

Not as far as I know, maybe Saturdays are half days but I wouldn't be certain.
