A win against Derry wouldn't be quite enough to seal it on its own.

Still possible for a team to go down on 7 points. We'd need one of a Kerry loss, a Dublin loss or a Tyrone draw/loss - Dublin & Tyrone playing in R7 so they can't both get to 7 if Dublin lose in R6 - to be sure of being safe with a win before going into R7.

Still possible for a team to be relegated on 7 and for a team to make the final on 8, I think. For the secondary competition, the league does throw up plenty of excitement.

We would certainly have taken this position after Round 2.

Was great to see a bit of running football again on Saturday. Ryan and Aidan got plenty of the plaudits, and deservingly so, but I think McHugh and Ruane deserve phrase. McHugh did a very good job on Clifford (still getting 5 points - the guy doesn't even need an inch) and Ruane showed some real leadership, as he had done against Armagh as well. He has often got a bit of flack for his League form but he's been very impressive in the last two matches.

Not too many reasons to be critical from the game. Reape needs to get those kickouts away a bit sooner. Coen got done for the goal but I thought he did an awful lot of the dirty work in the first half.

Seriously? You think a light summer breeze will prevent long range kickers from scoring outside 40m? Now that's nonsensical.

Even on summer days where a breeze is stronger a team will have it for half the game and be more likely to go for 2 pointers.

Just watched the OTB football pod on youtube. Very good explanation of why managers are genuinely frustrated with the rules and the pressure it's putting them under. But on the flipside they also explain why the supporters are enjoying the games now because all the basic gaelic football skills are being rewarded. Paddy, Tommy and James are all big fans of new rules.

I think the way they are reviewing it after 5 rounds isn't perfect but the best option available. At least they can clarify and tweak some of the concerns managers have now. Otherwise we will be listening to McGeeney and others complaining all the way through the championship.

Id prefer if the goalkeeper stayed inside his own half but I understand how it can help create overlaps against mass defences. It still looks wrong though.

Hopefully most of the issues will be ironed out soon and managers adapt to the rules. It could be a great championship ahead.

Think it's the end of April before the league starts. You would think they'd have them up by now though. Kelly Cup isn't starting for a couple of weeks, those fixtures are up.

Apologies If I'm misinterpreting the rules (both original and the tweaks) - I'm away and haven't actually watched any football under the new rules - but the change regarding the punishment for breaking the 4v3 rule seems to have a potential catch that I haven't seen anyone mention.

If the punishment for breaking this rule is now just a free at the halfway line where they crossed it, what is to stop a team just ignoring it at the end of a game? For example, there are 60 seconds left and your team is 1 point up. What is to stop you effectively ignoring the rule and piling everyone back, if the penalty for that is just a free on the halfway line? Is it possible to have an increased penalty for repeated infractions, or am I missing something else?

Last group game of the Kelly (and other similar cups) are in the calendar for the 30th March so by the time the finals are played it'll be mid-late April I'd say.

The interfering with play scenario n doesn't make sense - the rule is not the specific outfield players remain back, just the 3 do, any 3. SO if the corner back comes up and takes possession on the opposing 65 on the left wing, the "offending" team could legitimately argue that it was actually the wing back on the opposite touchline who was supposed to remain back and he wasn't interfeering with play. So its impossible to judge who is and isn't interfering with play.

To my mind there should be just two scenarios - if the team in possession offend - free on half way, and if the team out of possession offend 13m free
