Any Irish person still dick sucking Trump is a traitor at this point. **** him and anyone that sees good in him

    Outrageous.

To say that to a leader who stayed in his capital and steadfastly refused to leave his people while Russian paratroopers and special forces were landing in their droves on the outskirts of the city and Russian ground forces and heavy armory advanced in truly massive columns all with the sole purpose of capturing and or killing him.

Not many leaders in modern times have taken such a stance.

It truly was an act of bravery that will go down in history.

Disgusting, to see that fcuking coward, sit there and bully and extort a brave man who has given his all, to defend his country. Trump would have ran like the diarrhea that he is on the very first day were the shoe on the other foot. The sooner airforce one pancakes into the earth taking Trump and his cabal of scum with him the better.

I would imagine MM is dreading it, especially after today’s exhibition.

Not just her, the entire press corps were listening in shocked silence.

Vance is just Trumps little puppet.

If our lot still attend (on the 12th!) it will be an absolute disaster

i didnt think that Trump could shock me anymore but OMG but I am shocked and shook .
Two bullies shouting at a victim that they were the cause of their attack

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

It’s why the UK and France took the approach they did - have the arguments behind closed doors certainly - but this was a trap and Zelensky fell for it - Ireland will most certainly be ripe for a roasting -

A display of total diplomatic thuggery -two ignoramuses bullying a man whose English is a second language.

It was quite a feat by Zelensky to show such composure under this barrage of disrespectful public harassment.

God help the USA and indeed the rest of us while Trump , Vance and the cavalcade of cabinet crazies trample on all the conventions of political sense and decency.

    There's no jolt.

For every rational, normal American - this is another example of the obscene circus leading the country

For everyone else it's Trump "talking tough" to an ungrateful leader who kept taking American's money and "doesn't want peace" and all the other propaganda MAGA has been successfully pumping out for years.

No it wasn’t a trap . It was premeditated. They had that all planned. Calling zelensky a dictator, blaming them for the war and mocking zelensky attire from the get go. His tongue is so far up Vlads hole it’s embarrassing.

I’m devastated listening to this. I can hardly believe what I’m hearing from Trump and Vance.
The more I see and hear Zelenskyy the more I admire him. Brave, principled, a patriot of the highest order.

I don’t think it made for good tv whatsoever. It made for puke inducing tv. It’s a war ffs , it’s as serious matter as you can get. Not some reality tv rubbish. Sooner that orange stain croaks it the better.

I knew it the minute the Trump got reelected, it was the end of the USA era. It's over.

They knew what he was like and reelecting him was doubling down on giving two fingers to the world.

Pathetic from Trump, a guy who weaseled out of military service, talking down to a man trying to save his country. Reminds me of Hitler savaging the Czechs in the run-up to WW Two, although that was behind closed doors.

Trump is in the pocket of Putin and always has been. The US of old is gone. This is what the Irish delegation will be treated to, which makes you wonder why they will bother going.

You're giving Trump way too much credit and misunderstanding him imo. He didn't plan anything of the sort, he's not cognitively capable. He speaks whatever comes to his mind in the moment. He's nearly 80 and has been rigourously pursued by the courts for the last few years (justly) and had two assassination attempts (one almost succeeding). To me it's fairly clear that he's cognitively impaired beyond anything he was in his first term. Look at the Gaza AI video - nobody of sound mind would post that.

Trump and Vance just committing a diplomatic war crime in full view of the worlds media.

Two cowardly bullies. Truly shocking and sad to see them blaming and shaming Ukraine and it's president.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,188 ✭✭✭opinionated3

Had to switch channels. As someone who had always cheered and believed in a America that stood for truth and freedom and as almost the police of the world, this is just shocking and incredibly sad. There are no words really....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,188 ✭✭✭opinionated3

And now he's kicking zelensky out the white house, literally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 244 ✭✭Seattle

The Irish leaders will have to attend on the 12th and they'll have to bite their tongue - simple as that. We have way too many US companies in Ireland that we rely on to do anything differently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,011 ✭✭✭tinytobe

    Same here.

The problem is: Does one want or have to want to rely on a "partner" like Trump and Vance if they behave this way. Suppose they agree on some kind of "awesome deal", would it really be worth it when push came to shove?

    I would doubt both.

There are also a couple of facts:

Even if the US would get all the rights to minerals and rare earth in Ukraine, it'll take them several years to get access to them. It's in the ground, infrastructure would have to be built up, investment would have to be made. And by the time things came to fruition Trump would either be dead or no longer president.

US investment in mining would then be in the Ukraine. Who would protect that? A European NATO force with boots on the ground? And what if the Russians came again? It would then have to be some kind of air cover from the US, possibly operating out of Rumania?

All nearly impossible if there is a war still going on, and no real end in sight.

From the point of Zelenskyy I would bluntly state to the both of them, either you help us militarily by whatever means, guns, ammunition, etc… then you get access to our raw materials, if not, you don't and we as Ukrainians would have to fend for ourselves, maybe with the help of the Brits or the French. It's as simple as that.

Looks like Zelenskyy is leaving the White House shortly, early even, as his car has drawn up the the house entrance/exit doorway and the media are gathering on the lawn instead of the room where the deal was supposed to be done in front of the media. Trump may have forced him to walk away from the event without any deal. This is all down to the GOP kissing Trumps ring. It would be nice if a few more rebellious heads popped up over there to tell Trump "Sonny, you're on your own". Trump has posted on his media site that the meeting is over.

It's a wake up call for Europe . The US now sees itself as a strong adversary of the continent and no 'friend'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 110 ✭✭Mobius2021

The St. Patrick's Day visit will be fun. It's always been a nice easy meeting for both leaders, bit of diplomacy and a positive news story for all. However with Trump it could turn into a hostile mess.

MM cannot be looking forward to it at all, too unpredictable.

Zelenskyy humiliated by trump and Vance in public, what must the people of Ukraine be thinking, having lost so many people trying to defend themselves for the past three years, and now trump wants to asset strip their natural resources. That was disturbing yv.

When Trump actively encouraged an insurrection in 2021 that was when the U.S. needed to act. They didn’t and wouldn’t. This is why they are in this state today
