They aren't very transparent in their marketing materials. I rang them and they 3k or there abouts delivery and service pack charges that were non negotiable. I was interested in pulling the trigger but this put me off. Will hold out for a demo or recent second hand later in the year

Said the exact same to me and a friend. €45k OTR.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭SEORG

The €3k may be due to all colours bar white being €800 extra.

Don't think I saw it posted, but here is the full price list…

So with Paint and 3K delivery (May inc. Service and/or tyres) it is up to 46K…

I don't know why 800euro Metallic paint option ends up adding 1K, it seems it's due to the reduced VRT rebate.

    Did it pass some threshold?

Seen a black one this evening northbound on the m50. Fine looking bus in fairness.

What kind of values they give for trade-ins? I mean are they like Tesla or more like traditional dealer?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,288 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

It depends, they told my mate no, we don't want your Toyota Hybrid.

It would seem all garages are heading this way, especially when you look at VW ID trade ins, they used to value repeat custom but looking at the threads, dismal offers being thrown about!

Still scared of disrupter Tesla killing the market, I'd say the bosses don't want to get burned like that again

they’re definitely still concerned that there’s no stability in the secondary EV market yet - especially at the prices customers expect when they bought their car 3 years ago.

Indeed, Tesla only accounted for about 1-in-40/50 new car decisions in Ireland in 2024 (previous years were far lower), so incumbent manufacturers with a mix of EV and ICE options won’t be too concerned about them at all in 2025, whereas xPeng only have a Y competitor.

    Xpeng themselves don’t care.
The issue here is MSL as if they wake up tomorrow and decide to close the xpeng garage, there’s no manufacturer rep in the country. People probably had the same concerns about BYD but they are well established now so hopefully the same for X.

Is the other issue with new entries is no real competition (Even Xpeng competing garages) and not a great supply at the moment?

So Xpeng is getting how many G6 cars this year, all into one dealer to cover the whole country.

(The Second dealer opening is also in Dublin, and part of the same Garage/Family or independent (Even if under MSL)?)

So they know they are going to sell these cars one way or another this year.

So price it "well" below Model Y, to get us in the door and half committed, but with additions (4K with MET paint), and low trade-in, it's probable back just under the Model Y offer, and even if you don't buy they have someone else waiting, so no real need to negotiate on their part.

I mean I'm interested from Galway, not sure where everyone else is, and we are all going up (Maybe) to the exact same Garage.

This may be a general issue at the moment I'm not sure, Was also looking at the Onvo L60, but I think this is going to be higher again than the G6? The wait may continue, but I might go up at least for the test Drive.

Currently about 50 through south Dublin. They hope to have a north Dublin dealer in 2026. Somewhere MSL based. Could even be Navan Road beside BYD.

Amy word on a price for the G9 or when that will arrive to Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭denismc

I see the service interval for this is 20k km or every year which ever comes first.

They are really going to expand the number of dealers if they want people outside of Dublin to buy this.

    Good morning all,

I have a quick question for the group particularly those whom have had a chance to attend the dealership with regards to home charging did the dealership offer to install there own xpeng unit or are you expected to have your own installed beforehand?

    kind regards,

    Lloyd

    FFS

I wouldn’t be buying the model released here in the last few weeks then. Outdated already.

Sounds like they were trying to get Paddy (unwittingly) to help clear out the old stock before the factories switch to the new models.

If they reduce the price enough one might as it would make a tempting buy. From the looks of the revamp it's all very subtle anyway barely noticeable the changes but ye maybe bad timing on Xpengs part to launch it here with a revamp around the corner

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

They've only launched 3 weeks ago. Cant see any price drops anytime soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭SEORG

What are the chances that the facelift will make it to Europe any time soon?

Xpeng seems to be launching in a new country every week in 2025, I can't see how they will expect to shift an older version of a car if they release a facelift later this year.

Bjorn made an excellent side-by-side comparison between the G6 and Sealion 7.

I think Mazda and Skoda pulled their distribution from MSL a few years ago. They still have a few dealerships but are no longer the importer. They still import Merc/Smart and recently added BYD and now Xpeng.

I didn't believe the guy in vw when he said after mentioning a really low round about offer on my model 3 that he would only go around a grand higher for an id car that was retailing for the same price as my tesla online. I assumed they'd be much better with their own models. After reading on here it doesn't look like he was spoofing.

Definitely not. Speaking to a guy today and his brother bought a brand new ID4 in 2021. Paid €55k. Now we all know that most EV’s have dropped their prices, but he was offered 13k on trade in by VW!
