My Dad's free-to-air setup was affected by the big storm as his ariel was blown down. So he does not have his favourite ITV3.

I remembered tuning into ITV via Sky years ago in an awkward way and learned that on the Sky Q box, you can now go:

Settings | Manual tuning | Pin code | Add Channels |

    • Frequency: 11.386 - ITV1 & ITV4
    • Frequency: 11.344 - ITV2 & ITV3+1

The channels are then saved, but you have to access them via the same steps.

I wrote down the steps for him, but it's not straightforward for the elderly.

Is this the best I can do for him on Sky Q?

Seems to be, as per below from the FTA Tuning Guide sticky at the top of the page. The actual tuning details there are out of date. Newest details always on the RXTV site. As you probably know there are both Horizontal and Vertical transponders on 11344 and 11386.

    SKY Q

    · Press the "HOME" button on the remote

    · Scroll down to “SETTINGS”

    · In the settings menu, choose “MANUAL TUNING”

    · Insert your PIN if prompted

    · Select “ADD A CHANNEL”

    · Input the frequency details for the channel you want as per the table above

    · Select “FIND CHANNELS”

    · A list will appear after a few moments, choose the channel(s) you would like to save – a tick should appear beside them

    · Select “SAVE CHANNELS”

    · To view the channels you have just tuned in, go back to the “SETTINGS > MANUAL TUNING” menu and choose the channel you want to watch.

Thanks a million. This looks to be the handiest reference:
Manually adding ITV, STV, UTV to Sky, Freesat and other free-to-air satellite receivers

and use Lyngsat to identify the frequencies for different channels and regions.

This told me to use 11344 / H for ITV 3, which worked.
