Pope Francis has died (updated 21st April 2025)

He appeared he was going to be a very progressive pope when he started the job. He talked the talk.

But as time went on, he didn't walk the walk.

I'm sure most of us know people of the RC faith even if we are not believers ourselves.

Maybe a little consideration for their feelings at this difficult time is in order.

There will never be an American pope, but the world could make a very solid point in making that known loudly. It would annoy so many US based evangelicals… just being told outright that they can get fucked. Even though they would never have stood a chance to begin with

As for Francis, the media choreography is a major softening up. They have said he is critically ill, is requiring high flow oxygen and a lot more uncomfortable than he was in recent days.

I'll actually be surprised if we don't hear in the morning that he has passed in the night, perhaps in the next few hours, at the lowest ebb of circadian rhythm.

The sequence of popes seems to go liberal-conservative-liberal-conservative, so I assume the next one's gonna be some mentaller who wants to strike down Vatican II and bring back the latin mass or something...

He is the leader of my church and he is deserving of respect.

Surely the big man in the sky will heal him, not sure why we are all being asked to pray for him?

Anyone who genuinely believes that our prayers for him will work has to question why they do and why the entity you are praying to has to be asked to save him?
