Casemiro is finished from a prem perspective. He may be able to do a job in Europe in certain games. He just can't get around the pitch and is a pressing trigger. I'd sooner play one of the kids ahead of him.

Rasmus needs to be taken out of the team. He doesn't get any service but his confidence is on the floor. I'd bench MDL too.

He did plenty of diving when he played for United.

Casemiro shouldn't play for United again. End of. Collyer being injured shouldn't change that.

    Glazers Out!

Its funny watching Duncan Ferguson being fair and balanced in what he is saying and Ferdinand and the hype merchant presenter trying to make it to be the worst thing ever.

    Gimme more big dun

Mainoo, Collyer, Eriksen and Mount all unavailable. That’s the only reason Cas was involved in the last 2 games.

It’s clear he’s not part of Amorim’s plans

How feckin bad was Maguire today. Looked like he was wearing concrete boots. Jumped miles too late for the 2nd goal. Didn't jump at all when Beto had that late chance.

    He was dreadful.

Casemiro needs to be put out to pasture. His energy levels, ability to get around the pitch and overall sluggishness are a real liability. The midfield looks so weak when he plays.

Rasmus desperately needs to be taken out of the spotlight and maybe a loan somewhere. He looks completely broken.

Dalot has become the place where momentum and attacks go to die(unless its the opposition doing the attacking)

Onana is also a problem and a dodgy keeper will almost always mean nervous central defenders.

On the positive - Dorgu has added some athleticism, phsicality, power and pace down the left. Bruno made mistakes but we have 0 creativity without him, and he always works his bollokx off. Ugarte scored a nice goal but struggled in midfield, especially when playing beside Casemiro. Garnacho looked bright when he came on. Obi got some first team minutes again, didn't really have any impact but that's almost to be expected given his age and the mess he's being thrown into.

Overall it's hard to take too many positives from that draw. The first half was just so bad, and its becoming a recurring theme. The players are clearly not willing or unable to follow Amorims instructions in the first halves of quite a few games this season. To his credit, he has generally been making effective subs but its very hard to overlook how bad some of those first half performances have been.

This team are so fragile right now that if we have a run of a few more losses I would genuinley worry about just how close to the bottom 3 we could find ourselves. Being involved in a relegation battle seems almost impossible considering just how badly the teams below are doing, but then again, Man Utds form and results for a quite a while now have been worrying in the extreme.

Didn't see that game today, only saw our goals.

Anyone give me an opinion on how Dorgu looked, and chido?

From what I see online Dorgu was good? Chido OK but little involvement?

I thought casemiro was the right pick in cm in absence of Collyer but apparently an absolute disaster.

Yeah Dorgu was good. A live wire going forward, some good tackles at the other end. Definitely a good addition.

Obi was as expected. Lively and enthusiastic but didn't have much impact to be honest. But a good run out and didn't do any worse than Hojlund who sucked again.

Clone Dorgu for the other side, and have Amad back and we'd have so much more quality.

Dorgu was probably the only player first half could hold his head high

Obi looked raw and green but did okay. Occasion didn't phase him

Maguire, D Ligt, Casemiro and Hoijlund were poor.

Onana was Onana. Some good things and a lot of bad things.

Dorgu and Bruno second half were the only 7/10s for me

    Zirksee and Garnacho 6.5s

Dorgu played well, although Garnacho coming on put an end to any meaningful impact he was having

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,560 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

If we can get garnacho combining with him it would be huge for our attack. We need garnacho to play for the direct style and pace, but his ignoring of the wing back is so damaging to us at the same time.

Feck sake, West Ham, Wolves, Palace & Spurs all winning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,715 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I dont like the argument of injuries mean Onana and Casemiro HAVE to start. Both have fairly basic utterly fundamental flaws in their game. If Harrison and Kone can't do better then they havn't got much right to be at the club either.

I don't think anyone would expect peak Van Der Sar or Keane levels of performance but just a basic baseline of competency would be an upgrade on Onana/Casemiro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,715 ✭✭✭✭Zeek12

Today looked like a decent point under the circumstances. BUT…..with both West Ham and Wolves within minutes of surprise away wins, its getting too close for comfort at the bottom.

Might be we’re in 17th place soon if we’re not careful

At this stage, there’s not much difference between finishing 17th or 12th, which is the highest we can realistically finish unless form turns around dramatically. We’re lucky the bottom 3 are so rubbish, otherwise there would be legitimate concerns about a relegation battle. I’m only keeping fingers crossed for a run in the cups

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,560 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

As long as Leicester, Southampton and ipswich remain below us I don't care whether we finish 15th or 17th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,473 ✭✭✭mcburns07

People are saying this, but we'd likely need 6-8 points from 12 games in any other season to stay up. We're bad but we'd definitely get that.

chelsea going 3 at the back today. will be interesting to see if maresca can implement this after 3 days.

not actually 5 at the back.

As bad as we are, and even allowing for Leicester and Ipswich getting an end-of-season run-in panic boost where maybe their form improves, it's really hard to see them getting 13 points more than us.

Unfortunately he ignored the overlap a number of times when he came on and insisted on cutting back inside himself. He was lively but very little end product again.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Don't forget to add Dalot to that list of poor players today. He was chronic for large parts of the game, offered nothing in attack and his header led to their first goal.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,715 ✭✭✭✭Zeek12

Agree, I don’t think relegation is realistic. But 17th place is. And that’s utterly embarrassing imo.
Thank goodness that Southampton and Leicester are as bad as they are.

Come the summer, will quality players really want to join the team that finished one or even two spots above relegation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Unless we offer them massive wages which would be why we got here.

Quality players may not join us in the summer due to a lack of European football and the fact that we continue to be a basket case, I don't think they'll pay much attention to which position in the bottom half we finish in. The league is already an embarassment, but we live in hope that this team can put some together some kind of run to try and finish higher up
