I've been that parent and he's been that child too 🤣

The worst thing is the cancellation text 5 mins before you are due to leave. At least give us time to enjoy our little dance!

    Couchside,

    Happy Valentine's Day, everyone 😀❤️

I have a few admirers, so maybe I will have a relationship when I get sober.

Good news: I was tested for liver and kidney damage (from the codeine), but no damage has been done, thank god! What a relief! I'm so lucky after being on the stuff for 5-6 years. I also went up to the substance misuse clinic/building and got myself an appointment for an assessment on Monday. Fingers crossed, they know their stuff and are very good/helpful 🤞 Furious with my GP for sending me in the totally wrong direction/building (he was miles off!), but that's another matter.

Not long out of bed and still exhausted . Putting the heat on and go back to it is my thinking . Still no Internet here , pushed back to at least the 18th which is messing with my podcasts .

Just waved Mr E off on a work trip for.5.weeks. Feeling a bit unsettled but will plan some nice things for this weekend. Wouldn't it be lovely if the sun came out?

They are usually ok once we get there and are pretty handy with a hurl. However I feel like they were an Egyptian cat in a previous life as comfort and heat followed by food 😂 😂

Hello Cork. Please recommend a good hotel for a crew on a layover for 24 hours. And any pub/restaurant suggestions

If it's for 24 hours, I'd recommend a hotel in the city centre, either the Imperial or Maldron on South Mall, or the Metropole on MacCurtain Street. The Dean Hotel out by the train station might also be worth a look-in, it's the standard hotel my former employer uses for visitors to the Cork office. All of these will put you either in the city centre or within easy walking distance of it.

Restaurant-wise, I can recommend Jacobs on the Mall, Market Lane on Oliver Plunkett Street, or Sophie's on the top floor of the Dean Hotel. I've eaten at all of those myself (on company money), and I find all of them to be either very good or excellent. The Glass Curtain on MacCurtain Street is supposed to be good as well, but I haven't been there myself yet. Pub-wise, my go-tos would be either the Shelbourne on MacCurtain Street or the Franciscan Well on North Mall, although that's a bit of a walk. Crane Lane or Arthur Mayne's might also be worth a look-in.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Just out of the hospital been a tough couple of days but things looking up

Can't help with the hotel I'm afraid, but two of my favourite restaurants are Café Mexicana in the city centre (https://maps.app.goo.gl/EKgFuDqZuN88Yf3x9) and, slightly outside a little, The Wine Tavern, at St. Luke's Cross (https://maps.app.goo.gl/VT6KbxTq3wdTFKd6A).

Edit: I second the pub suggestion of The Franciscan Well made by @thomil.

Tempted to head down to Cork now after those suggestions. I also fancy a decent pint of Murphy's closer to home.

Similar suggestions to thomil..The Imperial is probably the best and most central hotel imo...Market Lane , Elbow Lane or Goldies for food but lots of lovely restaurants in that area and food in the hotel is also nice. Depending on the crew probably 77 for cocktails/ drinks, Arthur Maynes also good or my own favourite Barbarossa.

Money no object then Hayfield Manor hotel , fab food and cocktails and then 5mins in a taxi to town.

McCurtain street has really taken off recently so The Metropole hotel and plenty drinking/dining around there also.

Cork City is small anyway so everywhere central is only about 10 min walk.

Maybe I'll nab a pilot if I'm out the same night. 🤣🥂

Barbarossa is my go-to day drinking pub. Love sitting outside watching the world go by and having a few drinks, then getting their really nice fish & chips before pouring myself onto the bus home! 🤣

All this talk of Cork restaurants and pubs is making me jealous :):) So wish that one of our guys needed to visit some Irish studs :)

Off to work for me, just after my head hit the pillow, called to go see the Alps, so a 16 hour day ahead of me.

I wouldn't mind a trip to Cork , just for a pint in Pa's . The last time drove by it , it had expanded greatly from the shebeen it used to be . The 1st time I was there I had a a smallish case/bag . I left the bag in the bar to go downstairs to the loo . The relief when I came back was palpable. They weren't used to nordies in the early 90's 😁

Count me in, I’ll be waiting for you 😃

Just finished lunch here. For a day that was supposed to be rainy and miserable, it’s turned out to be a surprisingly nice day!

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Just landed at work, all ok in the hospital still bad with pain and nausea but getting there. I'm off for a week bar some overtime from tomorrow, throw a shape on the house and all that

I'd recommend waiting a little longer for that, the weather forecast is depressing, to put it mildly…

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Waiting room at my GP, waiting to be called for my routine blood tests.

Very tired this morning as I slept very poorly the past few nights.
