anyone here who passed their Dublin interview already, how long were you waiting for to be placed and what documents did you need to send over. I know this varies a lot but would love to know a general timeframe on the whole process after passing. Thanks in advance

I’ve heard nothing since either. Which panel are you on the open or the interdepartmental?

Well that's the interview done and dusted. Felt it went OK but also felt some of my response were repetition of earlier response. Just have to wait and see now if I've been successful.

Anyone know timeframe for start a job from the open panel? I have passed interview and the last message I got from PAS was to send on my qualifications a week ago. I said yes to Revenue as it would have been the most likely department anyway for my county, so I know they have positions.

I also said yes to Revenue and got confirmation this morning that I'll be starting on April 7th. It probably took 3 weeks from sending qualifications to confirmation of start date. Also, garda vetting only took 3 days.

Hi, could I ask you what County are you? And was your interview from the open panel or from the EOI. Thanks!!

I'm in Dublin and interviewed for the main open competition.

Did the interview. Hard to know how it went because everything is very neutral in tone when you're in the moment. I felt they were very intentional in tailoring every question to be reflective of civil service values - nearly all questions led with mention of these so I'd advise anyone preparing to be brushed up and have examples to match these.

I had one challenging question around communication that I felt was oddly specific and it threw me a little. I found it tough to avoid being quite vague on that one as I didn't have a concrete example to match.

Overall, really not sure about it.. I feel like I did well on some questions and then was not specific enough on others, I fear I may have waffled on a couple of occasions. Oh well, at least it's done now.

Well done I'm sure you've done well. As for civil service values yes I had the same yesterday. The communication question for me was quiet a simple one as I had worked with people with intellectual disabilities for almost 7 years.

Yes, I definitely found some questions simple and broad enough that you could answer it in a few different ways. Just with this one question, it was conflict related, but the wording felt a little more specific than the other questions in the interview with more to it than a general "how do you deal with conflict?" question so it threw me off a little.

Can i ask roughly what Oom you were

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,444 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

And they love throwing in "how would you introduce yourself to a CO who has been in the position for 30 years and has great experience?"

I can see why they'd ask that question but it seems like a tough one to answer. Maybe drawing on their extensive experience and asking them for their input in areas where they're very knowledgeable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭Mytimetoshine22

Ye thats what i thought too about the Co question

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,402 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

This is the answer and not just in a bullsh!t sounds good in an interview kind of way. Management will do the SOP’s and set out how things are supposed to run but CO’s will know the reality of how things work. I’d always make time to sit down with/watch a CO to see how the process actually works on their end.

    Thanks for that.

Anyone know where I'd get proper samples for deductive reasoning gap test? There is a sample on AON but there are only a handful

Just got asked to complete pre - employment checks saying I'm under consideration for a placement in Athlone, but it doesn't say what department etc.

It says I need to submit current employer details, I've just started a job in the private sector, I assume they won't contact the current employer unless they offer me a position and I accept?

Does anyone know whether there is a difference between the open clearance process and the interdepartmental one. I have filled paperwork for clearance for interdepartmental and am just trying to gage the length of time it takes, thinking maybe interdepartmental is quicker.

I'm not sure how they're dealing with the two streams now. However, it seems from what I've read earlier that people who didn't opt for the Revenue stream and passed the interview are being offered first refusal of these Revenue positions anyway. I could be wrong on that of course. Not much time left till the April deadline they've set themselves but you'd never know.
