@Boards.ie: Mike is aware of the issue. He is in daily contact with Vanilla. It is an issue with quoted posts "populating".

You will first see the link text before the actual text of the quoted post loads. As the text from each quoted post loads the content gets shuffled down the screen.

This is the thread for reporting issues. So we'd ask posters to keep to this one thread. We'd also ask that the title of the thread be respected and there's "no griping". The issue is the exact same for all of us. We're all affected by it.

Even when the page settles and can be scrolled, it still takes seconds to just expand a quoted post by clicking the 'down' arrow.

I don't know if this is related to the bouncing issue, but I've noticed for the last while that hitting "back" on the browser doesn't work until I hit it maybe 3 or 4 times. Looks at the "back" history, it seem the page is loading multiple times, so when I hit back it's going to the same page. I clicked into this thread, sent a reply and now it looks like I went into the same page multiple times:

Also having to click Back twice almost every time to return to previous page.

I hear you're Trump supporter now @Boards.ie: Mike 🤣. Censoring our favourite online shopping thread.

You could at least have changed the title to "T-E-M-U Ireland chat thread"

🤣 whoops!! Well unlike my shining tangerine hero further west it appears I do make mistakes. I made a couple of changes to fish around for leads to clamp down on that dreaded spam attracting word. All should be as normal with that thread name now again. Apologies for the mistake, normal service can now resume.

I know it was a joke (at least I assume it was) - but is there anything to this suggestion that you just alter the legit threads slightly, while making them still recognisable within their forum (it's not as if the search function is working to the point where the title of a thread needs to be 100% correct) - and then just ban the word "Temu"?

It would save a lot of time and aggravation on the part of those of us reporting the spam 24/7, and the poor mods who have to find and delete it.

^ What about legitimate use of the word 'Temu' though?

Masking the word via a swear filter is an absurd way to fight the spammers. They wouldn't know (or care) about that anyway, so it wouldn't stop them.

The only people it would negatively affect are the site users - us.

It probably wouldn't work. We would just get a load of spam offering "$100 off ****" (which more people would probably click on than they do with the Temu word tbh).

Yes it was an attempt at a joke!

It is extremely difficult to stop this type of spam. Adding temu to the swear filter alters every mention of the word, this has a big affect on genuine threads from genuine users mentioning temu. Banning the word is also impractical. The accounts that are set up to spam threads in this way appear genuine to the system. Generic usernames and verified emails, all automated I assume.

I have tested the Spam filter add on from Vanilla in the past and it was an absolute disaster, fixing one area and completely upsetting countless others.

I am pushing all of the suggest ways to combat spam that have been made here with Vanilla. However, as I mentioned here before, they are only suggestions and have to have a lot of take up from the wider Vanilla community to get it to a project or development stage. I am essentially just one voice at the very back of a big room full of loud voices. I continuously push for improvements for Boards.ie and try my best to get these "ideas" to the forefront.

Fair play Mike I don't envy you. Well done on keeping at it despite the frustrations you are dealing with all sides.

Place is driving me mad lately but I can only imagine how you are.

The beautiful dream of sitting back with a nice cup of coffee and having no new posts on these types of threads is all that keeps me going. 😅

In all seriousness things will get better. There are a lot of improvements coming down the line, some are in final testing, which should see a big improvement on performance and user experience. Boards.ie and it's contributors are sure to keep on going long into the future when we return to a state of proper functionality. Please don't underestimate our appreciation to all of the users and volunteer moderators that make this place what it is. Please continue to report issues and share feedback because it is essential in making progress with functionality, even if it is not always directly acknowledged it is taken onboard. Bear with us and watch this space :)

The profile button issue on Iphone iOS is a known issue that is pending a fix.

With the ads covering the text box, do you know if you had your account fully verified at the time? I only ask as I see you have only made a small number of posts and have recently created the account. Also were you using the Iphone when you spotted this issue?
