    Hi All,

Neighbour woke up this morning to a bit of burning smell and discovered a burnt component on the mains. Would anyone have any idea what this could be? The only thing that was plugged in all night was a car charger installed by a reputable registered business few months back. Car still seems to be charging this morning (pics attached). I have already called an electrician who would drop by later in the day.

That's a main fuse that has overheated, it's a common issue on boards of that era. The lads who fitted the PV and EV chargepoint should've changed it for an MCB imo.

Thanks for getting back. I would tend to agree with you. Sparks on the way later today. I want him to eliminate any issues before I ring the crowd that did the job.

I'm not sure if they're obliged to change it, but it certainly be good practice at a minimum. I wouldn't keep charging the car either btw, best to shut off the power for now.
