It will only take 2-3 flights to cause chaos here and bring down a government

This is precisely what republicans have been doing in US for years, dumping thousands of refugees in “blue” cities to cause chaos and sow division, and the terrible practice seems to have worked

Outbound leg, bring over US occupation force

Return leg, instead of flying empty cause chaos in a country that’s been too vocal and has no way of defending itself

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

What allies will the US have after 4 years of Trump? Israel? Russia? Turkey? North Korea?

Very early days of the presidency but certainly his “friend” Putin will feature in the coming year- I would say Trump/MAGA or whatever want a “normalisation” of relations with Russia again - there’s obviously money to be made dealing with Russia economically- they will ultimately hand back frozen funds and pave the way for businesses to return to Moscow.

Ukraine is held over a barrel - it needs US funding- either to continue the war with their ammunition and expertise or to rebuild.

I don’t think they will have a choice but to concede - a permanent “zone” patrolled by EU troops is just costly long term and solves nothing. As for NATO membership, maybe 10 year ban on joining as efforts will need to be made anyway to rebuild but not a permanent ban- that just gives Russia time to regroup and invade again.

There should also be a rollback on just how much Ukrainian soil is taken - “art of the deal” my arse - Trump is simply siding with the group that hold all the cards- both in this instance and Israel too.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Ireland is massively exposed in terms of the US companies based here - both employment, exports back to the US from pharma companies and taxes collected - US federal government agencies are already dumping some consulting firms leading to job losses - whatever about wars and whatnot, I think we might be in for hard economic times - I wouldn’t like to be considering buying a house right now or planning a family

Very populist & popular move both here and in the US, for if there is one thing Trump has got right (and maybe the only thing)? it is the women's /female sporting issue, which he has amended to the delight of millions of women & girls.

I'm not sure Netanyahu and Israel are fully thinking this one through. Becoming a strong Trump ally and his No.1 global supporter may well be cementing their status as a pariah and rogue state.

Agreed - As I said earlier in the thread , the US role as any kind of global "leader" is permanently destroyed now.

The rest of the world can never trust them again to remain an objective sensible global influencer.

When they elected him the 1st time , the world was surprised , but then they kicked him out and you could almost believe when they said "sorry about that , won't happen again" , but NOW , they've just re-elected him despite knowing all that is known about how utterly venal , corrupt , erratic and self-serving he is.

So, the next "normal" US Leadership (if they get the chance to take power again) will never be fully trusted as the world will not ever be able to truly believe that they won't elect another loon the next time out.

The US is big enough economically and militarily such that they will always have a seat at the Global negotiating table , but they will now simply be "managed" by the rest of the world instead of listened to.

Indeed, it's very debatable if the EU for example can now regard the US as an 'ally' of any sort or if it's actual a full blown rival who needs to be managed.

The Polish Presidency of the EU certainly doesn't think so.

They have made the theme of their 6 month term all about the strategic situation on the European continent and defensive co-operation within the EU.

And it says a lot that people such as yourself that he's appointed numerous people with a history of sexual abuse or the cover up of it but you don't say a word. He literally wanted a trafficker for attorney general. Instead it's the weird obsession with transgender people that is the real issue in your mind.

^^Yes, 4 years (or more) of Trump and his evil clown troupe, and any kind of international system/rules (with US as the "keystone" state in that) will be left in rubble.

Sure you can attack hypocrisies and double standards in the current system, and Russia/China and propagandists for their vision of the "multipolar" world (where they will be far freer to act as they like, and throw weight around with anyone smaller & weaker than they are) do that all the time. However, I think people won't really know what they had till it is gone for good, and replaced with relative chaos and disorder.

One outcome will be a massive amount of general arming up (already well under way, but it will accelerate/expand), followed by a big burst of nuclear proliferation with 10s of new nuclear weapons states (more of a long term prediction - China is already masively expanding their own arsenal though, which may be a harbinger). That should worry everyone.

Very interesting the way you twist the meaning of my post to suit some kind of warped idea in your head, most peculiar. My post defends the Trumps executive order to keep biological males out of female sports, and I make no apologies for agreeing with him on that. This has nothing to do with some sexual abuse thing that you are on about. Female sports for females only, as per Title IX.

The warrants for members of icj has the wider implication that the EU has to follow through with an alternative to the SWIFT payments system that it tabled during Trump's first term.

They're already a rogue state. They're short of allies so cosying up to Trump is a no-brainer for them. He'll probably appreciate the gift as well.

My point is that you and other posters are fixating on this and claims of it protecting women. Meanwhile you ignore that he pretty clearly does not care about protecting women and both he and others in his administration have endangered both women and minors(eg McMahon). You guys equally ignore things like ethnic cleansing. You're celebrating your pet subject being targeted, that's the reality.

Historically, can you think of some other examples in history where people have celebrated targeting of minority groups while ignoring other criminal behaviors? I'm pretty sure you're not gonna find positive scenarios as a reference point.

It's like indoctrination where people pretend that they care about women's sports but gleefully support the world's most famous misogynist who has a long history of sexually assaulting women. You'd see the same people get hysterical if a European country introduced women-only carriages on trains or tightened their consent laws.

Dumped a bunch of water into areas in California that actually didn't need it, nor would the water get to the LA area anyway. Might be some flooding, plus the snowpack's low so, this water won't be available when things warm up when it'll be in even more demand. But, hey, good for a photo op. And, unsurprisingly, Hegseth's DoD who have oversight of the dams in question hasn't responded to questions - it's the Army Corp of Engineers, after all.

"Trump just dumped over 2.2 billion gallons of California reservoir water"

"But this was not a typical water release — not in its preparation, timing or stated aims. Locals hadn’t planned for the large water flows. The choice to release water in the winter, when there’s less need, confused water experts. And President Trump, lauding the releases, claimed that if they’d happened earlier, “There would have been no fires” in Los Angeles — even though Kaweah and Success are far away from Southern California’s reservoirs, which are at above-average levels. The agencies’ statement also noted that the waterways do not connect to the aqueduct that serves Southern California."

Me and my extended family are celebrating Trumps executive order signed yesterday by Trump which states that all female sports and sporting competitions including the 2028 LA Olympics should enforce female only competitors, in female sporting competitions. Thank you Trump.

    Sorted 👍

And that's it folks, as I will not get pulled into the argument you guys would like me to get involved in, McMahon and stuff? Not interested.

We are all getting a real time reality show in how anarchism operates and how a democracy can be dismantled with end “state” (ha pun) being a weird dystopian mix of anarchy, oligarchy, nationalism, fascism and libertarian bullshitism

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

And my point stands, you have a specific group you want targeted so you'll celebrate but ignore everything else that doesn't suit. Pretty much the case for all the Trump fans on the thread. It's very easy to see how questionable regimes rise. Say you and others would benefit from reading the likes of Hannah Arendt and Timothy Snyder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,607 ✭✭✭Hamsterchops

Women and girls make up 51% of the US population, and all we are saying is that their sporting competitions should be (for female athletes only), if you interpret that as targeting a specific group like non female competitors maybe? then there shouldn't be a problem.

Possible good news for the US. Marko Elez resigned from Doge on Thursday afternoon after details of his comments on his X account were made public by WSJ. According to the WSJ Marko made plain his views on the account on a eugenics immigration policy, marriage within his ethnicity, to normalize Indian hatred and scrapping the Civil Rights Act. I assume that's the 1964 act brought in by President Johnson. The account has since been deleted.

Edit: It does show that the X media site, owned by Musk, might have to take a second look at the changes he made to Admin oversight of account content.

Non-story. The rot has set in and is not going to be removed any time soon.

No offence, but I had to go check myself to see if this was real.

The amount of times I read comments here slating Biden back when he was president for being too soft on Israel. Not one of those has appeared here to say anything now, which makes me think they were all crocodile tears, but let's give them a pass.

The question I have is... there are Trump supporters here now saying he is better than Biden regarding Israel. Where the hell are they? What's their take with this gift? Jfc

Realistically, I cant see either Musk or the DOJ taking a look at Elez's former account contents as they are all for free speech ,)

I can't think of a worse way to spend an evening than celebrating Trump's performative cruelty.
