I think he just saw that as a way of promoting his brand - and I believe he was paid very big money by the WWE for his role in the 'storyline'.

There is to a degree in the immediate term. The long term objective would be to increase American productivity through automation. Automation is coming to sectors like trucking that were previously immune from such threats.

The presence of cheap labour usually hinders increasing productivity

The Israelis should move to the US. Much better solution and most of them are citizens anyway.

If Biden had issued as many EO's as Trump has over the past two days and brought people from outside sources, I think the GOP and Trump would be looking very closely by both senate and congress oversight committees at the EO's questioning the orders validity wondering if there was some deep state conspiracy behind the EO's.

On the basis of being interested in activities which it usually covers with some spirit, why is the GOP NOT interested in the activities of Musk's band when Doge is reportedly shutting down the FBI and CIA sections who are tasked with protecting the US from malicious foreign state operatives?

"why is the GOP NOT interested in the activities of Musk's band when Doge is reportedly shutting down the FBI and CIA sections who are tasked with protecting the US from malicious foreign state operatives?"

Because they don't care two hours about the average American. They are completely out for themselves and up for sale.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Trump and McMahon are huge mates, McMahon's wife is part of Trump's cabinet. They're two cheeks of the same arse, both of them are odious characters so it's not hard to see how they came to be friendly.

Trump's political rallies were very WWE-esque in terms of presentation and theatre, would imagine there was some influence there.

Cunning and devious are the furthest terms I would ever use to describe Trump. There is no IQ test to run for president, he has been bankrupt numerous times, doesn’t posses an ounce of smarts needed for politics, this is all displayed during his ramblings at press conferences.

He isn’t trying to build a version of Rome, he has no agenda other than to have power and to flaunt it.

The idea that there is some master plan holds water like a paper bag. And how anyone can think he has that in him is still baffling despite the countless examples of him being as thick as a ditch.

It was a sorry state of affairs that the self proclaimed greatest democracy in the world had a doddery old man and a sex pest competing to be President. It speaks to a dearth of talent in the the American political system. When the Biden confirmed his lack of lucidity he was made to shuffle off stage for Kamala. She proved to have no substance and so Trump's re-election was a given.

Trump like Biden was, is tied to the Jewish lobby as they provided a great portion of his election campaign finance. In his first term he he moved the American embassy to Jerusalem which was a slap in the face to the Palestinian people and a huge coup for Israel.

That Trump and his predecessor Biden would even entertain Netanyahu is appalling. It confirms that America is not an honest broker in the Middle East. I'm pretty certain we won't see American soldiers in Gaza. The Gazan people are determined to remain in their homeland so Trump's spiel was just for Netanyahu's benefit. The Jewish lobby has Trump by the short and curlies. The optics of Trump's spiel were just what Netanyahu needed for his domestic audience.

As for Biden he hadn't the self awareness to realise he was destroying his own Presidential legacy by assisting genocide.

So Trump is planning to take Gaza or at least get it handed over to the US. Can you imagine the outrage if another of the superpowers took over a country? Does Trump not realize he is destroying the name of the US? What allies will the US have after 4 years of Trump? Israel? Russia? Turkey? North Korea?

Pam Bondi's first act as A.G.: dismantle the FBI's efforts to prevent foreign interference in US elections, thereby enabl;ing the likes of Putin to exert influence in favour of Trump - the great betrayer of the USA.

Everything is based on Tesla. He used his shares as collateral to fund the purchase of twitter. Tesla kept space X going when it was crashing rockets left and right. If we can kill Tesla, it brings the whole circus tent down.

There is some kind of ideology now, that one can crowd source facts, that popularity= correct. It's an absolute disaster because most people are dumb as a plank, yours truly is no exception. They love trump because they see that he is lazy, not rigorous, just like them. He can take shortcuts, go with his gut, contradict himself, just like them. He can bluff and bulky his way to drown out the truth with his own nonsense and his supporter will equate noise with truth but of course it's only inevitable, you can't keep a house of cards from falling, eventually the cult will either collapse or it will be out compete and become irrelevant. Caveat: Many people may actually die first though

Good explanation here of the Trump administration's strategy to keep opposition off balance. Before you've had time to process the latest scandal they are on to the next one.

If ireland is being told by the EU who we have to let into the country then we have handed over sovereignty to the EU.

    The government even say this.

We don't have control over our own border, as our government let's the EU tell use we need to take people in when a sovereign country could say no and stop people coming in unchecked.

I mean any country that signed up to the UN refugee charter 1951 has accepted non refoulement , basically you cannot sent refugees back to their country of origin if they face imminent danger. I guess most of the world has given up sovereignty

This has been the strategy for ten years, almost. It's worked an absolute treat, and there's no sign of an effective antidote on the horizon. The news is addicted to it because the public is addicted to it and the cycle will not stop because of the money there is in clicks, views and ratings.

You have to admire the elegance of it, despite its evil end.

This is profoundly incorrect, on just so many levels.

Could you point out on this map where the EU touched you?

This isn’t a strategy, it’s just who he is. A strategy will eventually get you to a goal. Trump doesn’t have one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,022 ✭✭✭✭briany

The goal is power, both for Trump and his administration.

Whether Trump thinks intently about what he's doing is debatable, but the post you replied to mentioned his administration, which includes more than himself, and those behind him have absolutely used the 'flood the zone' strategy to the hilt, and still are.

Potentially, the reactions to his Gaza comments would point to a degree of misalignment on that front though.

Trump sanctions International Criminal Court, calls it 'illegitimate'

    staggering stuff.

Thought this was made up initially but the key to Trump's genocidal heart is pretty simple apparently. The gift from Netanyahu.

IMO , Trump has reordered the world relationships/economies between states -going forward - as follows* :-

    (1) pre Trump there was a clear understanding between the US and other likeminded states/ it’s allies - of which there were many- with regards to the economies, the areas of sports, culture military cooperation, etc.

That understanding will now have to be massively reset as the US cannot be realied upon as a trusted ally/partner ie remaining partners will ‘carry on’ without the involvement of the US/with the US less involved

    (2) His actions will lead to the deepening of relationships between the US’s traditional allies and may bring in ‘new allies’ - especially with regards to trade. Eg I would have expected Canada would have lifted ‘up the phone’ to Mexico and China when Trump exercised his Tarriff idea.

    (3) UNCERTAINTY is the big enemy O’Dwyer the entrepreneur/investor/ business class and Trump has made sure that it will be there in BIG DOLLOPS over the next 4 (FOUR) years. So we can expect a very significant downturn in the economy during that period. And it may be longer than that if the Republicans are seen to put up a stronger canditate than the Demos come the next election

What a disgusting thing to gift to him. Pagers that killed and maimed children.

    Communication was the greatest fatality

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,331 ✭✭✭Field east

Do the National/Federal/US army have to comply with the Orders/EO s’ of Trump irrespective of what they are?
OR are there circumstances where the army could say to the POTUS eg. That what you are doing and want us -the army- to support it to get it implemented IS AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION. And therefor we are STAYING PUT and do nothing to assist you

And- an awful thought- if you continue with a series of these actions that are damaging to our economy /constitution we will act and send you off on a ‘ permanent holiday!!!!!!!!!!

Not entirely sure if this is a piss take or not.

For one to fly everyone out of Gaza would require 5000+ flights.

You also do not understand how international aviation works.
