Saorview coming into a distribution amplifier.

Output 1 to combo box and all channels working fine.

Output 2 to tv in kitchen. On this tv only getting mux2 channels. (Other channels breaking up)

Is this likely to be an aerial positioning issue despite the fact they working on one TV?

For this problem you have to test signal level. Swop 1 with 2 and see if signal improves. and see if signal degrades on combo. check connections as well, cable from1 and 2 may be different. length of cable. tV and combo box should have a signal indicator. check cables can mean re do connections, and moving aerial amy get a stronger signal. tv in kitchen may be getting interference, can you move it.

SAORVIEW can be a pain, i use a high gain external aerial with a masthead amp and makes all the difference and a splitter for 2 locations.

a better aerial may help. the list goes on

when you get the solution can you say what you did.

Thanks so much and thanks for the help on zgemma thread - you are a treasure.

It's actually reassuring to hear someone with your understanding and knowledge to say Saorview can be a pain.

So can't find yet how to test signal strength on 2nd tv but on the zgemma box this is it

    SNR 60%

    AGC 99%

    SNR 24.0dB

    Ber 0

    Is that good or bad?

Edit: swaped cables between output 1 and 2 and same problem.

Borrowed a small tv from next door, put it beside the distribution amplifier, Ran a 3rd output from that and the tv tuned in perfect.

So I am thinking it has to be a cable issue to the tv in kitchen rather than aerial issue??

Might the TV with the trouble be receiving from another, weaker transmitter? See if both are receiving the same transmitter or not? . There are 2 MUXs for all the Saorview channels , RTE1 and 2 are on the different MUXs so do the comparison for both RTE 1 and 2. You may have to go into Tuning Menu - Manual Tuning if necessary to see this (or it may be easier to see depending on receiver, such as just pressing Info button?)

Either for Frequency or UHF channel number (a 2 digit number: 21 or above)

The above can be an issue where an amplifier is used, a weaker transmitter (not the best one available) can have a high signal Level but low Quality, and even a Saorview-approved TV might not tune to the best transmitter on an autoscan (I saw this happen on a Walker Saorview box, it tuned in the weaker transmitter which were on lower UHF channels)
