    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

It was well known what Trumps position was on this war - America has the president it asked for- the world has to come to terms with that.
But just because Trump threatens something doesn’t mean it has to come to pass or it will come to pass. I’m awaiting a measured response from the international community

I watched the first 2 minutes and had to stop as I was getting a headache from all the edits.

Why the need to cut the video every 4-5 seconds.

You've managed to make it to 40+ years old in this world. And that video is what got you to click off?

I mean it's not that bad

Amid a startlingly ineffectual response from the Democrats to *all this*, Rashida Tlaib’s comments are a rare hint of common sense: “Palestinians aren’t going anywhere. This president can only spew this fanatical bullsh*t because of bipartisan support in Congress for funding genocide and ethnic cleansing. It's time for my two-state solution colleagues to speak up.”

That’s the tone Democrats should be adopting. Just relentlessly dismantling Trump’s horsesh*t in the plainest language on every channel possible.

And ditto for the media: any media outlet that doesn’t use the phrase ‘ethnic cleansing’ in their description of Trump’s remarks is failing in their basic journalistic responsibility.

Let’s be clear on this so called “proposal”.

    Israel hasn’t endorsed it.
Trump has said it’s an idea- it suits him because he knows it’s impossible to negotiate a two state solution - this is dead in the water before it begins. But it was never about Trump moving in troops to Gaza tomorrow morning to break ground on Trump International Hotel Gaza

He probably overheard someone joke that they should keep the place and rename it to Magaza.

    Boom! Policy.

I don't remember pushing him as a peacemaker. I said Biden/ Kamala had proven themselves to be genocidal maniacs and many people including me were saying that a vote for them is a vote for genocide.

Trump has the potential to be less evil in his actions than Biden.

Gilbert Doctorow points out today that if USA takes ownership of Gaza, the Israeli's could not recommence the genocide as they would be attacking the USA.

He says trump is dumb like a fox. In fairness , Trump gets stuff done. His envoy spoke with Netanyahu and the ceasefire started. He may lack eloquence but doesn't seem interested in facilitating the murder of babies like Biden.

    It’s not difficult:

    Trump far right

    Micky D far left

Both are *****ites, tho one has a bigger platform and more power and is more dangerous hence

Only simpletons view the world in binary left vs right, both extremes killed hundreds of millions of people in last century

I wouldn't classify outrage at Trump for endorsing ethnic cleansing to be "hysteria". You seem to think the reaction is limited to online forums or something.

    Let me get this straight

    Trump says he wants

"a Verified Nuclear Peace Agreement, which will let Iran peacefully grow and prosper"

Wasn't it Trump who ripped up the nuclear deal the US had with Iran when he was last in office?

Michael D Higgins is one of vanishingly few world leaders (especially in the West) who has managed to retain their dignity and moral compass amid an obvious genocide and ethnic cleansing. History will treat him kindly, deservedly. He has risen to the moment when so many others have failed, even with limited power.

He is the absolute opposite of the politics of hate, malice and self-interest represented by Donald Trump.

You realize ethnic cleansing of a region is genocide? Trump's support is far more extreme than Biden's by definition.

Thats an interesting interview, Doctorow is saying Trump is trying to trick Netanyahu and knows his proposal is completely impossible.

Stupid like a Fox thats a very apt description.

Let's see if he's morally consistent and unequivocally condemns Trump.

Also, he's not a leader. He's somebody who holds a ceremonial position with no power and breaks convention by being outspoken on political matters.

Trump isn't fit to tie Micky Ds shoelaces.

A bad faith statement. If he does, the MAGA posters will be saying that he's acting inappropriately. If he doesn't, he'll be accused of cowardice.

Higgins has twice been directly elected by the Irish people as our head of state. He's used his platform to call out Israel's genocide and history will judge him extremely favourably as a result. He's dignified, erudite and compassionate. No wonder a lot of angry people on the internet loathe him.

Biden financed and armed Israel to the tune of 70 cent in every dollar for murdering the civilians of Gaza. The death toll against him will probably be over 100,000 and then it's over to Trump. So far, there is a ceasefire. If the slaughter/ genocide resumes it's on Trump.

Not sure why you're trying to clean Bidens genocidal ledger. It's an enormous atrocity in terms of civilian casualties and a shame Biden is not wanted like Netanyahu by the ICC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 679 ✭✭✭engineerws

Trump says stuff. If he completes the ethnic cleansing/ genocide as he outlined them he'll be massively culpable if like Prof Doctorow says, it's a nonsense that is not going to happen then he'll have prevented more slaughter and protected the remaining Palestine by taking Gaza under USA protection.

If he does what he says, which genocide is worse, murdering everyone or displacing everyone both are bad but murder is worse IMHO.

How much of that was voted for by Republicans in Congress?

And Trump was the head of the Republican Party... publicly criticising any slowdown in aid to Israel.

He is now openly advocating for ethnic cleansing.

Thats all on Trump. And this thread is about Trump.

Your support for ethnic cleansing is all on you. You are the one trying to clean Trumps ledger with whataboutery.

    Bad faith in what way?

The President of Ireland is by convention supposed to remain silent on politically charged issues. He has spoken out about more than Israel/Gaza.

I don't hate him and I don't generally disagree with the messages he sends, but I do have the maturity to take a step back and recognise that he consistently breaks convention.

Words alone can easily inflame the situation with Hamas and easily setup Netanyahu to commit further genocide. So by default he's destabilized the situation with his rhetoric.

Congrats, now you get Trump and this clownshow

Arguments like the one you made split the democrats instead of concentrating on the greater evil

Is Trump arming Israel or is it only bad when the US does it under Biden?

Also lifted sanctions against far right groups in the West Bank and allowed for the sale of more extreme weapons to Israel. I'm not aware of any historical leader who has endorsed ethnic cleansing but didn't actually mean it...

Part of the vote for Trump was to end the worst excesses of woke ideology in favour of common sense. He's doing that and many on the left agree it went too far aswell even though they may hate Trump.

In your honest opinion murder is worse? Well gee, thanks for letting us know.

You're right though, what we need is a way to ethnically cleanse a population without all the moral hazards and whingers that come with doing that /s
