I was looking for a new podcast recently and came across the Rest is History after a google search. This is a great podcast, well presented and has over 500 episodes covering a large number of topics- Some are stand alone episodes but there are loads of topics which are covered over a few episodes.

I've listened to the history of Ireland, JFK, Titanic and Martin Luthor King so far (which is about 20 episodes in total) and i love it. If anyone has an interest in history have a listen and see what you think

Yes, I also enjoy it. The Titanic one was great. If you want to delve back into the archives, I would recommend the one on Babylon.

The two lads are so easy to listen to. Even listening to Domnic on the rest is politics live ....the man is different gravey.

I've listened to most of them now, going back years. Highly recommended.

They are currently finishing a series on 1968 in American politics, with some eerie portents for the present day.

There was a marathon series on General Custer which I wouldn't normally have any great interest in but was absolutely fascinating.

I also recommend their podcasts on the origins of the First World War.

On a quirky note, look for the one about the "worst parties in history" where you will hear an unbelieveable but true story about the higher echelons of the Kaiser's army.

They did a series of podcasts during the last World Cup where they had a lesser known story or subject from each country involved.

The podcasts are very educational I found interesting the history with respect to the CIA in South America. I recently listened to the podcasts about Eva Peron and it did change my opinion of her in a positive way aside the story of her remains was just so grotesque.

The last few I listened to were the series about Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution again so addictive and dispelled a lot of myths though the whole story and characters read like a work of fiction.

Well worth a follow on your favourite podcast subscription service. I tend to veer away from the episodes on ancient civilisations, but that's my loss.

The two presenters just have such a good rapport, they always cheer me up.

    Highly recommended.

Love Tom Holland's confidently delivered terrible impressions.

I can't remember which episode but Dominic can be heard completely corpsing during his Donald Trump impression.

II'll chip in and give a recommendation to The Rest is History too. Very good listening with some interesting topics. One of which was a multi part series of episodes on American events in 1968. Something Sandbrook is quite knowledgeable about.

The only thing I dislike are Tom Holland's awful attempts at accents and impressions. It's become something of a running joke now. But the joke just isn't funny. I tend to skip over them at the beginning.

The most recent series on the build up to the invasion of Poland was superb. Was kinda hoping there would have been a couple more episodes though

It's very good. So too is Dan Snow's History Hit.

Just finished the sequence of Poland during the war. It is so grim it is a bit of downer, but do please then listen to the story of Wojtek the bear, which I honestly had never heard of but any Polish colleague you may have will know the story.

Enjoy them also even if I struggle with Sandbrooke daily mail politics which comes out every so often. Tends to downplay popular uprisings and folk history as being unfortunate with the ruling classes viewed as misunderstood. Think he may have described Cromwell approach of Ireland as 'robust'. Read a few of his books and were surprisingly dry. But all that being said, the podcast is undeniably entertaining and a great way to spend an hour's walk.

I had heard in passing the story of Wotjek and thought it was a joke. It's a brilliant story and ends the Polish series in a more uplifting tone.

Yes, although he can be a bit excitable. I enjoyed his recent one on Vasco da Gama, and a while back he had a good one on Tom Crean.
