If they were really interested in America they'd be investing in central America, encouraging industries to produce their products there, which would provide jobs, reduce the drug gang problems and reduce migration and reduce dependence on China.

I made the same post on his first term and the fact they haven't figured that out in 8 years shows they don't really want to solve any of the above issues. They just want to blame everyone else for their issues.

There is also the understanding that if Biden was being handled, or assisted in any way, it was by democratic underlings in the democratic party, hoping that the party remain in good standing with the public, with democratic ideals to the fore.

The folks that are leading Trump are not republicans, but business interests alone.

Seems to me that if the "people who are really running the show" narrative is a worrying one, I'd be a hell of a lot more worried about the Trump scenario.

We are truly watching the Truman show.

It's all for show because MAGA is gullible. Voted him in because of inflation, only to find him trying to go gung ho on ramping it up through tariffs. It's the "Art of the deal". Everyone knows Trump lies, but its just the political version of The Apprentice

    Who wrote project 2025?

Do you think Trump is actually doing any of the decision making?

Why should I? He could give it to an equally incompetent fat republican senator who spends his weekends doing coke with high class escorts - last time I looked America hasn’t imploded

At least they have a plan - a good start - might even achieve some election promises - that would be good

Well, with people like Musk and that sociopath Miller knocking around in the background, you're right to be worried.

Trumps biggest election promise was that he had 'nothing to do with project 2025'

It'll be interesting to see what the Irish Trump supporters say when he tries to tariff the EU or when he suggests Ireland become a US state. Will they still be lapping up his every word?

Sounds like Panama is succumbing to Trumps demands. Not surprising given it's location to the US and size of the economy.

I hardly call it his biggest election promise 🤪He’s busy right now shooting warning shots over countries bows in order to get them to the negotiation table and achieve some quick wins - a lot of what Trump is doing right now is also what he promised he’d do in his election campaign - some of that is also in line with project 2025 - so he’s fulfilling his election promises- a first for a politician 😀

To what degree he’ll succeed with this or indeed with the minutae of project 2025 who knows - legal issues may drag the whole thing to a stop - it may also hand Democrats the next presidential election - who knows

Clearly if you’re intending to enter as illegal, you may wish to reconsider, especially if you’re a criminal - I hope ordinary folk don’t get sent there but I imagine there’s a few - whilst possibly the reserve of the gang members and leaders they’ll likely place a few ordinary folk there just to scare the bejayzuz out of all immigrants - I think it might work.

Whatever compassion this regime might have in the future, for people say long term in America without trouble - clearly they mean business right now - remains to be seen how this will impact harvesting and other activities completely dependent on illegals - I imagine many in hiding right now

he kept his promise to let the water flow in California. Opened dams and has let billions of gallons of water flow down, and completely wasted.

Compassion and the Republicans don't belong in the same sentence. They are plastic Christians who preach the word of their made up diety and then live their lives nothing like his teachings.

And as bad as your common garden Republican is, Trump and Musk are on a whole different level of psychopathic scumbag.

It was a massive part of his campaign to distance himself from this because he knew that most of the proposals in there were hugely unpopular.

But go ahead, cheerlead for the guy who 'at least has a plan' even if that plan is something that very very few people actually voted for, and which he deliberately and repeatedly declared he had nothing to do with every time he was asked about it.

Democracy is supposed to be where you vote for a representative to represent your interests or political preferences, and the way you decide who to vote for, is by the things they campaign on in the election. When the candidates lie through their teeth about what their policies actually are, it's not democracy anymore.

Did you ever think that perhaps the people kicking up a fuss and objecting to an audit of all expenditures are probably benefiting from the misapplication of funds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,220 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Perhaps, or maybe there's something else going on.

What would you do if I turned up in your house, demanded to be let in, demanded access to your online banking, changed all your passwords and told you I'm auditing your expenditure because I think you're wasting some money.

Would you think 'Fair enough'? Would you protest? Would you protesting be an indication that actually the 'audit' is justified?

(and I would have just as much of a legal right to do this to you, as Musk has to do what he's doing in the US Treasury, ie: no legal right at all)

If you want an audit you don't send a bunch of teenagers around and forcibly extract sensitive data. Especially when you have no legal right to do so. If you did that in Europe you'd be looking at some serious jail time. But anything goes in the land of the fascists you seem to love so much.

Heaven forbid that people worry about unelected people gaining access to your private information.

You are protecting just your name by posting anonymously on boards. If I asked you to post you credit card details, you'd tell me where to go... Even if I told you not to worry, I'm just checking to make sure you're not misappropriating funds.

The World Cup trophy behind Trump at this press conference. It wouldn't at all surprise me if he's asking to be the one who hands it to the winners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,579 ✭✭✭McFly85

Was that even the case? Expenditure review is a completely normal thing and should be considered a necessity for government, but you don’t do it by giving carte-blanche access to sensitive data to an unelected person, especially when that person has a massive conflict of interest as his companies receives billions of dollars through government grants and contracts. You also don’t give the unelected recipient of billions of dollars access to stop whatever payments he wishes.

Honestly, who knows what Elon is doing regarding treasury payments, but it doesn’t sound like a normal review that will provide detailed findings and recommendations - it sounds like corruption, plain and simple.

Yep and it sounds like basic auditing standards are flying out the window. In any org, there's supposed to be huge auditing trails for dealing with sensitive data.

Trump meeting Nethanyah. Trump is reiterating he wants Palestinians to leave Gaza to new land in Jordan or Eygpt and for other Arab countries to pay for new infrastructure and housing for them.

When asked what happens if both countries say "no" he replied...

    "They won't say no"

"I want to remove all the residents of Gaza"

    "It will happen"

    (and that's not paraphrasing)

The sheer disrespect being shown to those who work in these agencies - locked out of offices - told to stay home.. as tho rent utility bills mortgages and childrearing are inconsequential and can be stopped and restarted on the word of someone who never worked in the relevant service. No workers rights in oh so great America?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,028 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Where are the posters crying that Biden didn't do enough to help the Palestinians?

Don't tell me that was just faux outrage?

It's the here and now economy that most US citizens, including Trump, seem to be interested in. It's why Trump wants US Tech and other industry companies operating production facilities and factories abroad to return to the US despite those companies getting better financial deals abroad. It must be gutting for the expert on deals to know that he cant better the foreign Govts offers to US companies and has to rely on tariff threats to force the US companies to return their facilities to US soil.

Trump has been moaning about those companies a lot lately, telling them they should move home, saying Canada has nothing that the US needs.

Why do you suppose that Musk is not doing what Trump has given him authority to do; cut out the "deep state" operations Trump and the MAGA heads claim have been harming the US for years now by reducing at will the US civil service operations in the USA and abroad?

Take a look at the staff reduction notifications that Trump's people have been rescinding or putting on hold because they've realised the actual harm the reductions will cause to the public, which include all of Trump's MAGA supporters.

When Lindsey Graham questions why the DOJ sent a circular to FBI agents asking them if they were involved in the Trump investigations, it leaves the impression that Republican senators are dropping hints that some of the new admin team are overstepping the mark.

Edit: Its worth remembering that for every US civil servant let go by Trump, there are extended family. He's rapidly creating a hate-base for himself and the GOP by letting Musk off the leash. Any denial statements he issues on his Truth Social site that he didn't know what Musk and the juniors Musk has brought on board Team Trump were doing wont wash, his plausible deniability cover is blown.

I agree, but why roll over. They're a bunch of kids. Who would stand aside and let them act like that. It's happening in the FBI too. I

Trump sees a bunch of untermensch, that he'd be happy to drop a MOAB on to clear the way for a few beachside hotels, buy he knows there'd be blow back so he'll try to ship them off to live with the other untermensch, with no consent on either side. And then they wonder why people attacked the Twin towers.

I suppose the 'genocide Joe' brigade will be doing some serious reflecting now.

    Or not.

Their sheer stupidity was and is highly offensive.
