very disappointed in ineos this month. its clear as day we need a goal scorer.

all this talk of FFP goes away if we win the europa league. they needed to demonstrate they have faith in the manager, and supported him with some transfers to ultimately win that comp.

the league is fucked already, that should now be used to rotate players and blood youngsters.

Were not going to get relegated. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

yeah, it seems like more than a year in still no new means to increase revenue.

if fact, the simplest way is to win the europa league (getting into the CL). seems like ineos dont want to gamble to win that - even though we are bookies favourites for it.

Spurs seemingly paying £5m loan fee for Tel.

per reddy thats why we pulled out:

"Manchester United's interest in Mathys Tel ended as Bayern Munich wanted a £5m loan fee with no buy clause in the deal.

you would have to laugh if he got the winning goal in the europa league final against us.

Grim times for Utd. I’ve seen little if anything from Ineos and their hires to think they are steering the club in the right direction or have clear thinking.

Amorim really has to find a way and quick to get these players playing better. He’s been a disappointment so far on that front , there’s no denying. I fear he’s in danger of being swallowed up by the club before he really gets the players he wants.

I like him, I really do and I hope the club has the foresight to stick with him when the pressure undoubtedly mounts on him but he’s got to start finding a way for this group to stop losing games and perform better.

I’m also worried about the lightness of the squad, never mind the quality. The lack of movement inwards compared to outwards this window leaves even more work to do in the summer and just adds to that familiar feeling of trying to play catch up with the squad.

I think it’s a huge oversight only making one addition this window and only adds to my pessimism about Wilcox and co.

At least the same amount as what they wasted on getting Ashworth from Newcastle.

The finances are a mess and need serious adjustments.

Any chance of winter window signings were always limited after all the cash spent since last season. The money wasted in sacking ETH and his (including new) staff. The cost of signing and getting rid of Dan Ashworth who was not the man for INEOS. The cost of bringing in Amorim and his staff.

    From the BBC last September:

"Manchester United have reported a net loss of £113.2m in the year to 30 June, their latest accounts show.

It follows losses of £28.7m in 2022-23 and £115.5m in 2021-22, and their latest figures take total losses over the past five years to over £370m."

As it is a left back arriving was a bonus things are that bad. United spent 200million or so since last summer on players and had to sell players like McT to balance it out. The club will still have to try and move on Casemiro, Antony and Rashford next summer.

lots of wasted money - cost to sack ashworth as well.

cost to extend and then sack ETH. really crap running of a club.

Tel hasn't scored since May last year. Don't see how he would come in and instantly improve our forward line. Bit desperate I think of Spurs to do that for 5 mil. Was never found of the deal but sure who knows, could explode in the league the next few months

Is the league poor at the minute? I think a lot of the usual smaller mid table bottom half clubs are doing quite well. I think the standard isn't that bad in the prem tbh

How much did giving Ten Haag a new contract in the summer cost us?

Southampton are on course be worst PL team in history. The bottom 4 clubs are very poor. Good chance none of bottom 3 clubs will get beyond 30-32 points.

Bournemouth and Forset been very good

But Chelsea and City all underachieving and we are still behind all them by distance.

    EVENFLOW

RA inherited a shith show of a squad due to really poor buying and renewing of existing contracts. A lot of the squad simply aren't good enough. Unfortunately the last clear out was negated by the equally as poor replacements. Coaching bad players won't make them good players, it's akin to putting lipstick on a pig and expecting it to look good 🤣

OOpen Heart surgery definitely required !

    We will stay up though.

Very disappointing transfer window for utd, I suppose I didn't expect much with the finances as they are but disappointing all the same.

It feels the finances are just an absolute mess and INEOS arent or not capable of fixing them and the club in basically in limbo.

It's very hard to see the club ever getting back to the glory days with the ownership as is.

100% correct. We've already accumulated enough points so far already that the likes of Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester can't catch us...we'll safely finish above the relegation zone....

Sam Mather and Louis Jackson gone to Tranmere, will keep an eye on them as I think Mather is a decent player.

open to correction here but INEOS have already put in the amount agreed when they purchased % off the club, if they put more in I believe (again open to correction here) PSR still won’t be better off as you can’t have owners putting personal money in. Also find it weird how the Glazers have seem to have gotten away with all this as for some reason it’s now INEOS fault we have no money

Sometimes to fix the finances you just need to stop spending. Little or no transfers in with transfers out IS them fixing the financials. Cut to the bone for a year or two and then when things imrpove start spending prudently. I wouldn't be assuming that we are going to spend a lot in the summer either. Cut more of the big wages and sign more young "cheap" up and coming players. Once the finances stabilise you can start spending again.

All of the above and also money being put aside for a new stadium, we are in for a few years of very frugal spending I think. Especially if we are out of Europe which in all honesty looks likely for next season.

For all the crap the men have been serving up this season it's great to see the Womens team have built on the Cup win last year and are second in WSL just past the halfway point of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭jayo44

They are a way they can do it but it won't happen because the glazers won't do it.

The so called extra money they have put in is from the club creating more shares and ineos buying them and then the money goes to the club. United can do that at any stage the problems is it dilute the glazers owned shares and gives ineos a larger percentage of ownership.

I reckon it's the only way we going to get out of this mess long term they have run the club so bad.

I can see a maximum spend of 100m in the summer unless Garnacho is sold. A proper striker is a must.

Buckle in, going to be a bumpy few months, how the hell did Amorin agree to this coming in ? This is going to be a huge test for him

He didn't agree though did he initially. He wanted to join at the end of the season but the club gave him an ultimatum now or probably never. You can't blame Amorin for taking the role..don't think he thought it was this bad

I reckon he knew the finances are what they are - I don't think he would not have asked and I don't think the club would have lied to him.

He probably expected/hoped that he could and would get more out of Mount, Rashford, Hojlund in particular - which if we were getting something out of them would change the out look completely, imo. I think the squad and performances (or lack) from many players would be a surprise. Like WE can say 'Oh he should have known Rashford would be an abject failure and terrible human being' but i'd be surprised if he thought that before coming in.

Spurs had initially agreed a fee to purchase the player outright (€60 mill I think was reported) so if it came down to it they definitely had the cash available to stump up for a loan fee. He rejected them then but when he saw there were no other options agreed to the loan move instead
