Getting stuff done, yeah like last time when more than twice as many people per capita died of Covid in US compared to Ireland thanks to Trumps botched response..

I saw this on ABC News: "Several Canadian provinces, including Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, announced Sunday that they will be removing U.S. liquor from store shelves and not restocking those products after Pres. Trump’s tariff announcement."

I suspect a lot of wealthy CEOs and owners of American drinks companies will be calling in favors from their GOP friends on Capitol Hill.

Hitler got stuff done in Germany, as well, but this was outweighed by things such as the Holocaust and trying take over mainland Europe.

There doesn't tend to be a whole lot of lag time between dictators announcing a new policy and it being enacted. The problem is that notably few of them are wise King Solomon. They tend to be megalomaniacs who raise support through fear and recrimination while brutally opressing dissent.

The hedge funds seem to be setting themselves up for the next crash. Even when things are bad they make their money. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/01/31/hedge-funds-bet-billions-against-trumps-america/

"They've really taken advantage of [the US]," he says.

"They don't take our cars, they don't take our farm products. They take almost nothing, and we take everything from the millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,472 ✭✭✭Lewis_Benson

I wonder which European cars they import?

Youd hardly see a Renault or Peugeot on an American driveway...

Do you know why the EU don’t want their cars, food and farm products? Because they don’t meet the standards the EU has set. Meet them and I’m sure there could be discussions.

Even at that, American vehicles are garbage, and the food is repulsive.

This is his excuse, not his reason.

"Hey Donnie, that's because your cars and your food are ****."

The Mooch is smart enough to know that Elon isn't motivated about fining any waste or fraud. He is motivated by enriching his own pockets or standing.

Elon, an immigrant who broke immigration law when he came to the country being given what seems to be unfettered access to the bowels of the US government finance system when he has so many contracts and payments himself from that same system should be setting off massive flashing red lights amongst people worried about the integrity of the most powerful country on the planet.

Incredible stuff when you think that they've managed all this on the words of "draining the swamp". Sure, replacing dedicated career civil servants with the minions of the richest man on the planet is going to work out in the best interests of Mr and Mrs Joe America.

The current American regime is heading for an almighty fall …. going around making enemies of everyone showing nothing positive solving not one iota of America's current problems but adding problems into the equation that never existed before …… god only knows what Netanyahu will tell puppet in chief to do when they meet ….. another Middle East war no doubt ….. to make matters even worse …..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,029 ✭✭✭lumphammer2

Good …. it seems that all the current American government are clearly drinking too much whiskey already …. and it is not helping their mood to say the least !!!!!!! ….. but not enough to make them drunk and only enough to make them nasty negative grinches …… but if they have more to drink it may put them to sleep ….. and then a bloodless coup can take over and carry the drunken terrorists off to jail …..

Last time around EU offered to lower the import tax (10%) on all American cars to zero if USA did the same as Trump rambled about how USA did not have import tax on cars in the USA but EU did (in reality USA is about 2.5%); of course Trump refused because they have a huge tariff on trucks (25%) to protect their factories.

How are they going to square the Ireland / Indiana trade deficit. There's nothing we can do to even come close to balancing that $40 Billion. I'm not sure if he's going to hit the whole EU with tariffs but we're definitely in the firing line. Mike Braun the governor is a Trumper and supports tarrifs, he's also a bit of a greenery so I'm thinking the green thing to do is bring those jobs home not a create a direct shipping route between Cork and Indiana as was mooted back in November.

    And this is it.

My instinct tells me the culture wars nonsense has ramped up significantly since the Great Recession and the emergence of the Occupy Wall Street and BLM movements. I wonder what the actual research says about all this but if people prefer to be poorer than have to accept more 'woke nonsense' then they've clearly been brainwashed.

Its a sad state of affairs that their priorities as so messed up.

They've probably figured out, they'll be poorer regardless of who rules. The money floats to the top... but to not live in a woke hell hole, is a seriously attractive proposition...

I would prefer to be slightly worse off financially, if there was a credible non woke , virtue signalling, kite flying, non bullshit party here, I'd vote for it...

You'd rather be poorer than see more diversity and equality? How does 'woke nonsense' impact you negatively? Unless you are a member of the groups getting more exposure and acceptance then it doesn't affect you in any way.

Financial impacts will really affect your quality of life but you are happy to accept that just so you don't have to see other people being treated fairly.

There really is no arguing with that idiotic, miserable logic.

Good to see Irish Whiskey on the shelves, and spelt correctly ☺️

Define 'Woke'. Give me a few examples of how it makes a place a hell hole. You feel very strongly about it so it should not be hard.

In which the first post complains about culture wars, and the second one immediately agrees and then goes on to say....

"I would prefer to be slightly worse off financially, if there was a credible non woke , virtue signalling, kite flying, non bullshit party here, I'd vote for it.."

    Incredible

Trump was very, VERY successful re the signing of the EOs . Why ? Because he SMASHED the Guninness Book Of Records when compared to the number signed by previous presidents.
The REAL success or otherwise will be to see how many of them will be successfully implemented and that will take time for the ‘average’ EO

So you would basically be a typical Trump supporter. Ignorant, uninformed, gullible. Another turkey hoping to vote for Christmas. Happy to be poor and disenfranchised, if in turn you don't have to give a sh1t about anyone else, can wallow in your prejudice, and can freely insult others who are a little bit more caring, considerate, or different.

shouldn’t we wait for the posters answer on what they consider woke before jumping down their throat?
This is part of the problem.

We should not have to wait long for an amazing thought out answer with clear examples as the poster is so confident that 'woke' creates hell holes that he will have it all at the ready.
