    Anyone else noticed this?

In the last 24 hours, RTE Radio One on the Sky Channels (Channel 0137 here in the UK) has been nothing but dead silence and/or poor sound quality - extremely quiet, with a ‘scrambled’ sound - yet all the other RTE radio channels are perfectly fine.

Did Storm Eowyn knock the transmitter down? 😐

It's relaying white noise at the moment, which is bizzare as the satellite unlink is a few hundred metres from the radio centre(radio 1 studio complex)

Just checked there, loud static from ‘Radio 1’ but ‘Punjab Radio’ coming through with a far away, yet clear, sound.

Their I trip FM thingy that they use to link with has fallen over😁

While I might be joking, I would be surprised if they use a relay of the FM on satellite. I assume that they had a processor specific for DAB so that I think that would be used for satellite. Maybe not.

Just checked again - Channel 0137 is now LOUD white noise.

How can I get to sleep without hearing ‘South Wind Blows’?

Looks like their veronica Band 3 link out to the uplink site is getting interfered with by the unlicensed minimux again !

Seriously though, anyone technically competant in there any more?

All 4 RTE radios are currently silent on Astra 28.

Yep, just checked on Sky - all four channels are down.

Any news on social media that RTE are doing maintenance work?

All on now. Doubt it's maintenance work as all channels have been off at times over the past few weeks. Sometimes just R1.

Just dropped out a couple of short times on Astra there now.

    Longer break now.

Technically RTE is a shambles these days. this has been proven on several occasions. Over deviation on the Radio 2 FM network following a change of Optimod. Prime Time been pulled because of an issue with the HD/SD converter to Sky, even though the transmission on the terrestrial network was unaffected. And now this.

It's not helping that transmission is now largely based out of Tallaght. Before you'd have everyone on one site and could visit the NMC, radio centre, pres and TV centre, and the teleport and uplink building in the space of about 15 minutes.

Is the Sky uplink in Tallaght or in Donnybrook?
