I'm baffled by how low their xG was given some of their chances. They had 3 "big chances" apparently, 3 shots on target, 2 shots off the woodwork, 1 open goal put wide.

    1.07 seems low

Bournemouth also scored a goal that was (correctly) disallowed for a very marginal offside. That won’t show up on xG, but was a whisker away from being a goal.

Even without that, 1.07 does seem low with Kluivert missing a pretty much open goal and Ali making a couple of good saves.

Semenyo's shot that hit the post in the first half was from an acute angle and on his left foot. if he had scored it would have been very impressive (xG 0.033). Bournemouth's xG total for the first half was 0.18. In contrast Diaz (x2), Szoboszlai (x2), Mac Allister, Alexander-Arnold and Salah all had higher rated chances. Liverpool's xG total for the first half was 1.95, of which 0.78 was the penalty.

Bournemouth's reaction in the second half was expected, we knew that they were going to come at us. They hit the post with a shot from distance from Tavernier (xG 0.028) and the bounce took the ball to Kluivert which was his open goal chance (xG 0.485). The only shot that they had which had a better xG rating was by Semenyo early in the second half (xG 0.52) which Alisson reacted sharply to.

It would have been extremely unlucky to concede a goal to either of the shots that hit the woodwork.

Man U lost again, scored 0 , Palace scored two. Arsenal losing would top things off, hopefully the better team in Manchester can do us a favour today 🙏

Arsenal v City is one of the most boring games I've ever watched....zero creativity or attacking verve from either team.

Reminds me of watching Ulster Gaelic football from the late 90s.…pure scutter

And there's Liverpool fans that wanted Arsenal to win this one for fear of some form of City revival for the remainder of the season. City are woeful...

This city team might be rubbish can we have enough of these predictions post if Liverpool do this or that . This league ain’t going to be won in February there’s still a huge chunk of season to come no matter how well we are placed .

Balls they're gonna gain on the GD as well. We just need to worry about ourselves. On the plus side City truly buried today.

City could still go and win 10 plus games in a row.

Will you come up for some air.

If it wasn't for the 5th spot this year I'd say City in serious bother for CL

that’s a real championship winning performance from arsenal there’s to lose now

This City team just isn't very good at the moment. They seem so lost, like we did in 22/23 and one player being out is not the problem for them. Giving Pep another 2 years when it seems like the players they have currently are a little leggy for the way he wants to play so will need an overhaul to compete again. Haaland for 9 years when he does very little in the match is a luxury you cannot afford unless you dominate.

That could still prove to be a problem for them. Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Chelsea are all within a point of Man City and their relative goal difference is the same, Chelsea are actually +2.

Some result. Those young players will be full of confidence after scoring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,644 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Hopefully it makes the board think they don't need a striker

Thought City would get something today but they basically gifted Arsenal their first 2 goals and were chasing the game after that. And they are just so fragile now. That said no way will they be that crap when we go to their place.

We need to beat Everton now to maintain our advantage. Definitely doable.

was hoping for a better result there to be honest.

I didn't see that result coming at all . Will city rebuild oŕ will the 100's of charges be proven and Pep takes off ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭Talisman

Dias and Doku should be back by then but so long as Guardiola persists with the midfielder in place of the right back experiment we'll be be able to exploit them.

    Next 5 PL

    Arsenal ———- Liverpool

    Leicester A ———— Everton A

    W.H H ———— Wolves H

    Forest A ———— City A

    Man U A ———— Newcastle H

    Chelsea H ———- Southampton H

Our game in hand is a bonus we hopefully cash in, an important blow to land

Haaland was a disgrace today, just stood there, MR 4 Touches, Made no runs in behind, or showed for the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭Talisman

That's how he always plays. He hangs about on the shoulder of the central defender and peels away to the far post around the 6 yard box. He offers nothing beyond scoring goals.

Whois the game to be played against . I thought it was Everton
