Afaik, that only applies to forests.

A felling licence granted by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine provides authority under the Forestry Act 2014 to fell or otherwise remove a tree or trees and to thin a forest for management reasons.

We can knock at least four based on that.

It doesn't really do the size of the trees full justice but should give an idea. My guess is they are around 40 - 50 years old

FWIW, I don't like chopping down trees. It actually makes me kind of sad but the consolation is that they are not native trees and we can plant silver birch instead. Also, the apple trees might grow again if they get sunlight.
