Thank you! I watched all of them but the vast majority you need the TV on and mine, it is impossible as it switches off after 2 seconds every time.

how old is it? assume you ve unplugged it for a while, to see if it resets?

I did removed the remote control, yes. Happens the same by switching on the TV from the button itself…

Sounds like a power problem. The tv detects a power problem and shuts down. The fact that it takes 2 seconds to detect it would suggest it should be fixable, but of course, the tv might not be worth as much as the fix. Does the picture come on? In other words, can you see an image on screen?

What is the model number?

There is a known problem with the button panel in older Samsung TVs. I had one which constantly changed channel. My solution was to open the TV, disconnect the little cable from the button panel and just use the remote control.

Yours may be something similar…

Your TV is over 10 years old but should function. However, Samsung have reduced support - for example some of their apps have disappeared. I have a 32 inch of that vintage and an older 46 inch earlier version and both function fine.

As I recall, there was only one cable. But if there were two, presumably one would be power and the other data. It shouldn't matter which you disconnect to disable the panel.

Ok so you mean to disconnect the cable from the TV switch on/off? I will look into it.

On my TV there was a panel of buttons for Volume, Channel Up/Down and maybe Power On/off. It was several years ago so I forget all the details, and I can't find the original article which suggested that this was a cure.

I had a similar problem a few years ago with my UE46D5520. I tried buying some components and replacing them on the motherboard, then buying a whole new motherboard, with no luck. In the end, I sent it (the motherboard) off to an ebay repair guy in the UK (cost: Stg£45) to do some wizardy sh1t on it and that actually worked. I got about another 5 years out of it before it gave up the ghost completely.

Looking at the email I have from the repair service, the link doesn't work any more but it was called "SAMSUNG UE32D5520 UE37D5520 UE40D5520 UE46D5520 Mainboard -REPAIR SERVICE ONLY-" by user woodenk. You could maybe DM them and ask if they still repair motherboards

Actually it worked, dude!. There was one cable, yes. I unscrewed it and put it back again (so the TV still can be turned on manually). As magic, it turned on at once. Thank you!! You're legend.

Thanks for the tip MenloPete I had the same problem with my Samsung TV cutting out at least 10 times before it settled down came across this post so yesterday removed the wire from the back control panel and perfect ever since.

Would you believe it started to turn of again last night it worked perfect for two days its a pain, I guess its time for a new TV its 12 years old and never a problem until now.
