The wheels on the M3P would look super on the new Y.

Shades of the Lamborghini Ursus from those rims. Completely transform the look of the car.

Can'r help but think that this car moves away from tesla design language and closer to the chinese copies like BYD and Expeng

it does indeed. The problem there is that they are all chasing the CoD, and with that, all these cars are morphing into the same blob.

Remember when an A4, a Passat and an Octavia could be mistaken for the same car if you squinted?

Yeah, because they are the same car, using the same parts, all produced by VW Group. These new cars are being designed and produced by completely different companies.

totally agree - I think everyone would say the current Y is not an amazing design, but it IS a unique design, and that’s a positive thing imho.

It’s now a completely generic design. Separate and move the headlights down; add LED DRLs and connect them with a light bar. This refreshed design could’ve been signed off in a week :)

the new Y Jupiter in black …

Not to mention the impact on ride @slave1 , I really dislike driving cars with low profile tires.

Back in the good old days, premium and luxury cars had large walled tires to offer comfort. Think of the e38 bmw even.

I actually like the front end design but the rear boot and that flat design is doing nothing for me.

Think that's a step backwards for the MY, hopefully the interior is a little more progressive. Highland interior was an upgrade.

The boot and rear quarters are awful the more i look, it looks like a square edge of a minivan.

The highland interior on the 3 is night and day compared to pre highland, so I'd expect the same upgrade for the Y. No doubt it will be a nice car to be in and very practical. But the two main problems are the "launch edition" which will depreciate like a stone, and also the Elon stuff. I don't want to be seen to be buying something supporting a nutjob. I'm enough of a nutjob as it is!

Front looks better, side looks the same, rear looks worse. All in all not much of an improvement in the looks department.

yes the front is ‘better’, taken in isolation. The old Y is an ugly car - but it’s now completely generic. It’s just like all the other Chinese-made medium SUVs

That could be a problem for sales alright - like the X Peng 6 photo shows.

They lost the opportunity to get in more battery in the base model, bring that up to something like 75kWh LFP would have been a good move

I’m surprised with the juniper overall - when you consider that the highland was such a clear improvement - it’s hard to think anyone thinks the old 3 is better, and yet the highland is still a unique design, which is a rare in this era where safety regulations have such an influence on car designs

Anyone manage to lay thier hands on some good fitting rear seat covers for thier Y?, new one in the house and I'd say the kids will destroy them given time and opportunity. Thanks

I noticed Tesla are selling a pre owned 2023 Model Y rear wheel drive on their website. When you go into car details it says it was first registered in 2024 with a 2024 number plate. It’s from their cork shop, they are asking €39900. 4500km on it. White seats. Enhanced autopilot. Would this be a deal? Error?

@Billydoc its circa 6k less ( after 3.5k grant payment ) than a new long range RWD MY ….. I wouldnt see that as being anything exceptional …. would you ?

Something up with the listing I'd say. While it does list a 24 reg plate and reg date, it also says the warranty is until November 2027, suggesting it was actually registered in November 2023. Both can't be correct.

apologies I see that you are comparing a new one.

Tesla put a high value on enhanced autopilot in their second hand listings, whereas you’d value it at pretty much zero if you were buying in the independent/private market, like most other options.

I'm not sure on that (Tesla placing value on EAP), it's standard Tesla approach to include EAP on all their pre-owned vehicles, they've been doing this for years. It's just something they do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,050 sk8board

totally agree - I’m just saying that the EAP is one of the reasons why traditionally the Tesla online stock is priced above the wider market for an identical car.

"…..Tesla online stock is priced above the wider market for an identical car…..

Maybe for 1% of the buyers EAP is the 'reason'

The real reason for the other 99% of us is that if something doesnt work right there is a very good chance Tesla will know how to fix it 😀

Main dealer prices will always be higher than independent dealers and private sellers. But it costs Tesla nothing to add EAP and means they can bump the price up another couple of thousand
