Andrew Omobamidele came on at half time for Strasbourg who are currently 2-1 up over Lille with minutes to go.

John Patrick starts for Reims in 10 minutes against PSG, with Ikechukwu Orazi on the bench.

Everton beat Brighton today, Jake O'Brien retaining his place at right back. Just reading some of the comments online, sounds like he played very good again. At least it seems that his omission in the side for the first half of the season was not a talent/ability issue.

Dyche is cagey with throwing young players in especially CBs. When he first signed Tarkowski he only played four games (signed in January) and was still a bit part player in his first full season as Michael Keane was still at Burnley. Also we say it with Collins too at Burnley.

Think I saw before this season we only had ten Irish players play in Ligue 1 and this season we could have four as Noah Jauny has made match day squads for Brest too.

nice to have a possible right back for the Irish team, badly needed.

He didn't particularly standout, but at the same time he was solid.

Be interesting to see who gets the nod at right back for Everton when Coleman is back fit. If O'Brien holds onto it it puts him in with a very strong claim for us.

O Brien should if he is any good, Colemans days are over.

100 Premier League appearances for Nathan Collins:

    https://www.brentfordfc.com/en/news/article/analysis-nathan-collins-100-premier-league-apperances-crystal-palace-1-brentford-2#:~:text=Voted%20as%20Sky%20Sports'%20Man%20of%20the%20Match%2C%20Collins%20celebrated,Mois%C3%A9s%20Caicedo%2C%20Jacob%20Ramsey%20and

"Voted as Sky Sports 'Man of the Match', Collins celebrated his 100th top-flight appearance in style and, in the process, became one of only eight players born in 2001 or later to reach a century of Premier League games (Rayan Aït-Nouri, Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Martinelli, Moisés Caicedo, Jacob Ramsey and Curtis Jones are the others)."

Very imrpressive given he's only 23.

Any obvious granny rule players we should be targeting?

I think we should be going after Louie Barry, he has been absolutely brilliant at Stockport, just moved to Hull on loan until end of season. Celtic supposedly bid 10 million for him in last couple of weeks.

If transfermarkt is correct I'd say he's just not that interested. He only played one game at U16 level. Don't even need to be Irish to play in those friendlies so maybe he could be a generation out.

His last appearance for England will be four years ago come March at U18 level. All his U17 appearances were in friendlies so wouldn't have been tied to us if he played competitively leaving him to option to switch back.

John O'Shea was at the recent Sunderland and Plymouth match. Obafemi hasn't been in squads so O'Shea would have known he wasn't playing.

Plus he hasn't been doing anything at club level and Browne is injured. Chances are he was there for Cirkin. Only other Irish eligible player I can think of is Bellingham but he'll probably hold out for even one England cap just to play with his brother.

CJ Egan-Riley, Paul Nebel, Liam Delap, Jack McGlynn, Ben Wilmot and Jonjoe Kenny are all still eligible I believe.

McGlynn has three senior caps and a goal for the US so he's going nowhere. Delap and Nebel will get senior caps for England and Germany. Can see Tuchel giving Delap his debut this year.

With Boniface close to a move to Saudi Arabia, Ferguson is being linked as his short term replacement at Leverkusen on loan. If he could get into the team he'd be sure to get plenty of goalscoring chances - I'm just not sure he'll be getting into the team too often… Patrick Schick is a locked in first choice, with a great record this season, so really Ferguson would be looking at chances off the bench, or the odd rotation oppertunity.

Would kinda rather he went somewhere he'd have a decent shot at being the main striker.

Why would any club bank on him being their main striker after the last 18 months or so? Massive risk. Can't stay fit, or score when he gets a chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,651 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

West Ham and Everton are both interested and really struggling up front - and of course Potter already knows him well… it's very hard to get a proven striker in January without breaking the bank, so a lot of them will have no other choice than to take a risk. At either of those clubs he'd be given a chance to stake a claim at least, whereas he'd be going to Leverkusen as a backup and would really be needing Schick to get an injury to earn a regular spot.

Festy could be on the move. Journalist in Turkey reporting that Istanbul Basaksehir and Udinese have reached an agreement for the transfer of Festy and the player's decision is awaited.

More talk that Brighton are closing in on a £10M deal for Cashin with Derby seeking a total package worth around £15M. Cashin is the second highest rated CB according to Whoscored in the championship behind McNally.

Reports that Mark Travers will be having a medical at Middlesbrough and move on loan until the end of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,280 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Yeah the smart money would be on West Ham especially if it's a short term loan. Struggling for forwards and working with a coach he's already worked with before.

Though if he were to join Leverkusen then Irish players will have featured in the top five European leagues this season. John Patrick and Abankwah featured for Getafe and Udinese before moving.

Kelleher starts tonight for Liverpool as they make wholesale changes. Which has seen them name a bench full of kids which includes Trent Kone Doherty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,675 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

He might have a chance of getting on too. They have very few attacking subs, as far as I can see he is the only one really?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,651 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Yeah, Kieran Morrison's an attacking midfielder or right winger, and Trey Nyoni can play left wing but I think is more likely to come in midfield, so Kone-Doherty has a great chance of coming on for Gakpo on the left or even up front for Danns.

Idah with his first goal since November 30th. And as the old saying goes you wait ages for a bus and then two come along at once as he scores a second to level the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,022 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

Why would they let Travers go on loan? he played really well not that long ago for them. Did they buy a new keeper?

He's not their number one, he's better off playing regular football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,572 ✭✭✭glenjamin

Troy Parrott scores again as AZ lost 4-3 to Robbie Keane's Ferencvaros.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,022 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

I thought a back up keeper would be important to have around?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,651 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I’d say they’re happy enough with Will Dennis as backup, a local lad they’ve been loaning out to get football until this year. Did really well in Scotland last season. Might well be looking to just sell Travers in the summer, so no harm to get him playing before hand.

Good for us that he’s gonna be kept sharp anyway.

Chelseas rumoured to be in for Ferguson. As a Chelsea fan, and a Feguson fan, this would be an awful idea for Ferguson.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 913 ✭✭✭Drummerboy2

Troy Parrott really kicking on now in Holland. If he keeps that up Ajax might come calling as they are selling their top striker

Festy moves to Istanbul Basaksehir on 3.5 year deal

Will be a good move for Cashin if you're making the jump up to Premier League level.
