    Hi Folks,

I had dynorod out to inspect our sewer pipes in Limerick. They found some cracks (nothing collapsed) in various places. This cost around €500 for the report from what I recall.

That was done last year and I had to do a bit of chasing to get a quote from them for job to actually reline the pipes.

I just got the quote and the price including VAT is €8359 which I'm gobsmacked with.

We live in a semi-d bungalow and I was expecting around 2-3k at most.

Does anyone have any experience with pipe relining and the costs in the current landscape?

    Quote:

    Section No 1 - MH1 to MAIN

    Reline full pipeline 16.5m

    Section No 2 - MH1 to MH2.

repairs + new cover & frame.

    Section No 3 - MH1 to BURIED MH3

    Reline structural defects at 1.52m, 7.10m & 7.99m

Expose MH.3 to carry out remedial rebencing

repairs + new cover & frame.

Section No 4 - BURIED MH 3 to UNKNOWN MH.4

Excavate & expose buried manhole MH.4 to carry

    out remedial repair works

    Section No 5 - MH2 to INTERNAL

Repair MH.2 and internal connection pipe to WC

    toilet.

    Reline structural defects at 0.06m

Hi! In fairness, there appears to be a fair bit of work in that schedule, especially the rebenching. Sounds like around 3 to 4 days work by 2 or 3 lads. Could you get additional quotes off builders and the like so that you can compare?

I think it sounds a lot.
How much need is there for relining? What is the problem being experienced? How old is the installation?

Is it an option to just renew with modern pvc pipework and AJs

Our sewer pipes were relined courtesy of the local council some 10 years ago owing to where they had been laid 70 years before.

If I remember rightly they covered a distance of about 40 metres and reportedly cost upwards of 10 grand.

I got a section relined coming up to near ten years now. They charged per meter so I needed 2m done. Cost was around €1700. Took them close to a day to complete. Saved me a huge dig up.

Does the €500 euro for survey come off main price? Seems like a good bit of work. Have you looked at house insurance policy? It might cover it

    Thanks folks.

Can't get it under the insurance policy, rang earlier.

Getting two other quotes from other sewer relining companies so will report back when I get them.

I don't know how much "need" there is to do this honestly. DynoRod told us if we're in the house long-term then they'd advise to get it done. We're renovating half the house in March including getting our attic renovated so we plan on staying long long term in the house.

The price is just huge! I just want to make sure I'm not getting completely ripped off. I might ask around about how much it would be to simply replace the pipes too since a few people have advised me on that.

I'd be looking at renewing at that kind of money depending on pipe locations.

Depending on finishes around the house, it could be a fraction of the price.
