Solis & Puredrive error - battery status : batname-fail

Power out for a few days & back up today. System seems to be working OK (Solis Inverter + Puredrive battery) except the excess is not flowing to the battery.

When I look at the inverter its showing a "battery status : batname-fail" error. Googling this is not showing up any useable fixes. I went into the Solis settings but it is set at Puredrive battery as backup so im a bit lost as to what to do. Installer can be very slow to answer queries.

Has anyone encountered this before or know of how to fix?

I don't know the system, but does the battery have a status LED and does it show good comms/CAN, and does the inverter show "CAN ok" on the main screen?

    no comms/can error on either.

the solis seems to be seeing the battery but is expecting a specific 'name' which the battery is not providing

Have you turned everything off and restarted the system in the correct order? That would be most important thing to do first.

Try User Defined battery setting, see if that works which it should, then set it back to Puredrive?

i switched to the user defined setting, no error
switched back then to puredrive…. same error again

would the user defined setting be ok to use with the puredrive?
im just not sure of what to set for the fields…
some i can make a guess that have corresponding entries at the moment for the puredrive : max_charge, max_discharge , but others i wouldnt be sure.

Whether the Puredrive can be ran as User Defined on the Solis I wouldn't know, probably not. Maybe contact Solis and ask for firmware update and contact Puredrive for advice.

Additionally disconnect/reconnect both ends of the CAN connection from the inverter and battery.

CAN comms seem ok though according to the OP, not sure it's a connection issue.

Yeah, could be one a way issue not sure how CAN works but assume there is a TX and RX direction, not impossible and worth a check if nothing else is working.

It's bidirectional alright. A long shot, but don't rule it out when troubleshooting I suppose!

i also did the disconnect/reconnect of the CAN, no joy

Same issue, circumstances and system here. Rang Solis and they are doing a firmware update. Will update when complete.

That fixed it, battery charging and no error.

Out of interest what inverter is it hybrid/string and what firmware did they put on it?

I got them to put the most recent firmware on one of mine which gives you all the charge/discharge slots with there own currents and own SOC and even there own voltages at times, but it was as flaky as anything, could barely access it and kept flicking back to the earlier version.

In the end I got them to put back to the other version but then they came back and said the newer version should be resolved but haven't got them to change it again yet?

installer called in today, fixed the issue by changing the profile from puredrive to LG Chem LV. he reckoned that a solis FW update borked it

Interesting,a firmware update on mine about ten days ago.Battery wouldn't charge, inverter had to be changed

Just check my settings, (hybrid inverter). The solis guy has changed my battery type to LG Chem as well. It must be their fix. Where do i get the firmware number?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 317 ✭✭mjatkey

    Its this number here:

Did they update firmware or just change battery type?
