Looking for advice, being clueless on such matters.

I have an 80s dormer bungalow with standard oil fired burner and radiators for heating. Over the years, I have installed solar panels, had cavity wall insulation, double glazing and attic insulation. I'm looking for options to replace the current central heating system. What's the story with heat exchange pumps? How do they work and are they easily retrofitted? Any other suggestions? I'm in a rural area with no mains gas in the area

    Thanks
