So the latest bright idea from Trump is to export criminals. Not aliens, Americans who have been charged with repeat offences of serious crimes. He wants to send them to other countries where they will be kept for a 'very small fee' instead of the 'fortune' they are costing the US. Wasn't he just complaining about other countries emptying their jails into America?

From 34 seconds in this video,

Ah! the difference being he can do it to other countries but won't want it done to his.

After his latest statements today he is intent on bringing "our" multinationals home. Serious if it does happen even to a small degree for us. Depression ahead.

That is kind of what the Brits did with shipping convicts to Australia

True. I wonder where Trumps 'Australia' will be? Take these or else!

I would lay a bet that he says Mexico, no real reason other than it is Mexico.

I didn’t watch the press briefing, but I did read the transcript. Found here.

    https://www.wral.com/video/first-white-house-briefing-from-karoline-leavitt-youngest-ever-press-secretary/21830997/

She was correct, the NBC reporter was wrong.

Illegal entry into the US is what they both said. You are correct that being in the country without permission is a civil violation, not a criminal one. Illegal entry, however, is a criminal offense under Title 8 USC 1325, punishable by fine and imprisonment of up to 6 months for a first offense. This applies not only to those who entered the US not through a port of entry, but also those who did enter through a point of entry whilst misleading or withholding relevant information, which may well cover folks like those who overstay a J1 visa.

So, they want to get rid of criminal migrants and merely being undocumented is a crime by definition.

The social/economic impact would be interesting, if nothing else, if this were achieved to the fullest extent.

I mean you could take up the slack with prison labour in certain areas perhaps, but these migrants weren't only toiling in fields away from the public. For example, you'd probably be hard pressed to find a family who'd be happy to have 8-Ball, second in command of the San Quentin Nazi Lowriders be their kids' new nanny.

The new 36th White House press secretary Karoline, was a real breath of fresh air.
She is the youngest White House press secretary in history, and probably the best ever seen.

It’s almost like the same posters post the same things, with huge amounts of substance to their posts.

I'd be more worried about Israel funding a Peter Casey type puppet in the next Presidential election.

Remember, Stephen Miller called him the best orator of his generation.…

That emperor is butt naked and yet his legacy is secures. Depressing.

Trump apparently had Federal government email staff asking them to resign within a week and saying if they did, they'd get paid up until the end of September. He cannot authorize that.

So either he knowingly tried to entice people to resign like they're some contractors he can stiff on payment later, or the same guy who created a Dept of Government Efficiency is suggesting paying people to not work for 7 months.

Can we get one of our resident MAGA'ts to tell us what he was actually doing.

Apparently that photo was from 2018, and someone photoshopped the Hispanics for Trump on it.

Did Karoline tell the truth when she said the tax payer was saved from spending 50 million dollars on condoms for Gaza by DOGE?

It's all in Project 2025, everything he has done so far has been outlined in that step by step.

As far as federal employees go, the plan is to remove them and then replace them with Trump loyalists.

Trumps following the blueprint of Putin and Orban to a tee, purge the institutions and anyone that poses a threat to you from the inside.

A Fox news internship is her only experience outside of the clown show lol. It'll be a conveyor belt of vapid "conservative" women.

The various federal agencies (these are typically huge organizations) are sending out instructions to employees, to rat out coworkers who are not implementing the administrations 'purge DEI' directives. One of them, the National Parks service, has an e-mail address that can be used to report fellow coworkers. Now, imagine, an e-mail address that can be flooded with crap to make it worthless. Ya think?

Plus, the echoes of thought police and right-wing political correctness and yet another obvious dictatorial fascist behaviour. And it's Wednesday.

    The e-mail address is DEIAtruth@opm.gov.

Here are the template instructions of National Parks Service employees, from Appendix 1 of this document:

I cannot understand why Irish people think he is a good leader…….. Free press is almost gone in Hungary

It's amazing how much Trump's orders align with Project 2025 even though he promised he had nothing to do with them, didn't know anything about them and didn't support Project 2025. I mean, we were all lying and being completely disengenious and scaremongering that this is what would happen (completely in bad faith, obviously), and yet somehow, it's actually happening anyway.

Pre-Brexit claims about being out of the single market, a struggling economy, issues with the border in Ireland were dismissed as Project Fear.

So too were claims about Trump and Project 2025, his abandonment of the Palestinian people, his rubbing his peers up the wrong way……

And clowns worldwide, and on here, who defended him won't say a word.

She's way too aggressive, irritated and wound up and it was only day one.

I expect her gone in a few months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,048 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

    That is an opinion.

I haven't watched it, and would normally take anything from any press briefing with a massive pinch of salt given that the press secretary is a PR for the administration and POTUS .

What was it was has given you the opinion that she was both a breath of fresh air and, based on one event, your view that she could be the best ever?

What are the metrics you are using in your ranking of Press Secretary?

  • Subscribers Posts: 42,892 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

She essentially said trump has, with a swipe of a pen, put $55,000 per year into the pockets of American families.

Let's see how that turns out in reality

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,639 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Better than SHS? Better than CFTrump's last PressSecretary, whose name escapes me but is married to some hockey player?

I would NOT write off anything Trump is now saying and then following up on same - it’s very, very different to the last time - he is SOooooooooooo mercurial. I ca’nt wait for the midterm elections. I wonder now , for example ,the following will vote in those elections:-

    (1) those working from home/remotely that have just got a letter to now work FULLTIME from office or resign - must be upsetting for quiet a few

    (2) the ongoing/percieved treatment of the LGBT grouping in all sections of the economy - especially in the army, federal staff. They are deemed to be ‘second class citizens’ by the current Trump administration.

    (3) All those sectors of the economy who used foreigners/illegals to pick fruit, sweep the roads, assistants in hospitals, refuse collection, baby sitters, building sites , landscaping, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc

    (4) Those in states that have a traditional right to federal funds when a disaster hits them and such funds are held back/significantly delayed - eg Los Angles.

    (5) all those to be let go/fear of being let go so as to reduce ‘surplus staff / clean out the swamp/ reduce federal expenditure/ reduce influence of the federal involvement in the running of the country.

(6)IT MAY NOT HAVE DAWNED ON THE POTUS that all of the above have family, relations, friends, work buddies and neighbours that might sympathise with some of the above

So, roll on the MID TERMS

Trump talks about his 'mandate' but you are elected based on your platform, and if you lie about what you're platform really is, you have no mandate at all.

Its the biggest weakness in representative democracy. All true democracies should have a mechanism whereby the people can petition for a recall election if their elected representative betrays the stated commitments they campaigned on.

The Irony of republicans demanding a recall election in California while installing an unaccountable despot as head of the federal government is not lost

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

’cLOTHING’ he could’nt pick a worst example.. WHY?
    (1) What about all of the people who currently make the bulk of what we wear eg Bangladeshis, Indians , etc. and our attitude to supporting these

    (2) cost of clothes would SOAR. - seriously impact on the cost of living

    (3) imagine all those tech workers re skilling themselves re ‘ how to sew, design clothing, etc.
