Storm Damage and House Insurance

We had the fence around our house more of less destroyed during the storm, I've contacted the insurer (An Post), but their claim department is obviously experiencing a lot of calls so I was put through to someone in another department who took my details and will get the claim department to contact me.

It wasn't her area of expertise but she didn't seem to think they would cover the damage.

Looking at the policy booklet it seems that fences are covered:

    Buildings

Your home and its fixtures and fittings, interior decorations, swimming pools, outdoor spas or hot tubs which are fixedor fitted to the premises, fuel, septic andservice tanks, terraces, patios, decks, paths, driveways, tennis courts, walls, fences and gates for which you are legally responsible, all within the boundary of the risk addressshown in your schedule.Buildings does not include:

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues claiming for this type of damage?

Fences fall within the definition of what are Buildings. However, if you look under the Storm section of what events are covered, fences and gates are usually excluded

OP, look at P.7 of your policy booklet. Under 'Storm or Flood', exclusions include (damage to) 'fences, gates or decks'.
